Nice one Lexmark...
I've got a Lexmark S605, which ran out of black ink. I don't print things often, so it stayed empty for a while. I had a few times where I needed to print something, so I just used the color ink to make black ink. Then I ended up 'low' on color ink. So, I went and bought a black ink cartridge when I needed to print something the last time. Once I replaced the black ink cartridge, problem solved. I printed a few documents no problem.
Then today, I had burned a few cd's for my brother, and I had put in the paper CD sleeves in the printer with the intention of printing off the CD contents onto the sleeve. Lexmark had other plans. At this point it was telling me my Yellow and Cyan cartridges were empty, and magenta was low. Black is still full... and I was trying to print black text. I then proceeded to go into the printer properties and select "Use only black ink."
Tried to print again... and yet again the Lexmark is telling me it can't print because the cyan and yellow carts are empty. Replace them and try again..
So, even though I'm trying to print black text using a full black cartridge, I can't because my color carts are empty. Nice scam!
Another side note.. To buy all 4 cartridge from Lexmark's website it's $76. The price of this printer, formerly $200 a few years ago, is now only $86 on their website... it comes with all 4 carts of ink.
