Hey guys,

I have this list of things to do, broken down by maintenance, mods, and back burner. So my Satoshi grill mod was looking a little worn. So now that I have some down time waiting for the injectors to return, I decided to refresh the paint but also to color match the silver grill to the paint. I bought the paint from paintscratch.com.

So like everything, prep work is everything especially the taping. I blue taped the edges and pushed the tape into the grill. Then covered the rest with paper and more blue tape. The silver part was rough sanded and then with medium grit. Finally, cleaned with grease and wax remover and three coats of primer and paint. So far:

Since its plastic, I'm going to let this cure for about 3 more days and then clear coat it. Then I'll do the reverse and do the black part (which will be easier). I'll need to refresh the TOYOTA logo as well, which took a helluva beating.

After this, I'm going to plastidip the rear emblems. Need to straighten one of them out...maybe.

It's great to see you working on the 4Runner again. :)

^^^ what ken said!

I repainted my grill a few months ago. nothing special. I am thinking about adding a 4Runner and 4wd badge in the grill though. something different.

yeah sean, this is not a huge deal. always wanted to do this, finally found some motivation to complete it. today i'll clear coat it and let it cure for about 48 hours before moving onto the black grill part and surrounding interior black area.

after the grill is done, i'm going to install a set of Hella 500 driving lights again. been sitting in the closet. my old Hellas were damaged when I hit that hapless H3 a few years back.

mike,

hapless, indeed. my (now yours) tjm bumper sure put the hurt on that H3's bumper. even the rear tail light popped out of the H3. Lol.

those lights are way too spendy and the 500s work juuuust fine.

holy hell those lights are expensive... I don't care how bright they are, I'd get lights from that guy on Pirate before those, for half the price...

I like my 500's. The price is right and they were good candidates for 55w HID's.

I still need to install my Warn Fogs that I won at Pismo. Those should be a nice supplement for my crappy stock headlights

Took some rubbing compound to the grill and flattened out as much as I could. looks much better. Took some polish and then some wax to it as well this morning. Looks a lot better. You can't really tell from the pics, so no pics today.

I'll work on the black mesh grill part later.

Black grille area primed and painted last night. It looks really good. I'll be installing it on the truck tonight. I'll work on a better way of securing the emblem to the grill next week or two. Pics later. It's raining out here.
