Hey everybody...I'm looking for some help in pricing out a used third with 4.88's and a LSD. This is a Toyota Factory original part and coming from a very reputable seller. I'm just concerned with the price. They are askng

$455

After shipping. Is this too high? The vehicle it came from has less than 130K miles on it. My intentions are to replace mine which is a stock 4.10. I currently have 33x12.50x15's....so this should be a great upgrade and bring me back to a closer to stock gearing....plus the LSD would be a plus. Not a true locker but something in the right direction.

Any input? Price sounds good? Too High? Should I jump on this? Thanks for any inout!

A brand new V6 4.88 diff with 0 miles and a LockRight is $1,160 + tax + shipping. I'd give it a shot.

Where does this factory 4.88 with LSD come from? I'm not aware of any US factory 3rd member for a truck that came with a LSD.

Oversees. It's listed as coming from a Japanese 90 - 95 hilux.

I have seen lots of 4.88 rear diffs for sale and some with lockers on other boards. I know there are a few on mc I know of for sure. I also saw some on yt. If you put what you want in the "wanted" section you usually get some nice responses.

Is it the LSD that you want or a locker? If it's LSD, check over on the Celica board - I thought that you could get a LSD for the front for less than that.

As a toyota 3rd - rear / v6, a v6 3rd is about $100-$150, a basic locker $200-$300 (Aussie, etc).

I think I bought a 4.88 3rd (exchange) from Inchwork for $300 and then put the locker in myself... Check pirate for the latest prices on setups like this...

You could also check out Marlin Crawler. I know I see 4.88s and 5.29s all the time with and without lockers in them over there in the for sale sections. I know that I could pick up a 4.88 with a locker for around $300-500 with an ARB. You would only have to purchase the compressor and be done.
