Press Release from Nissan

Nissan GT-R Nismo overview

New, ultimate iteration of Nissan's GT-R supercar. Inspired by the Nismo-prepared GT-R that has competed successfully at the famous Nurburgring 24h race, the Nismo GT-R delivers even greater performance thanks to uprated engine outputs and advanced aerodynamics that generate over 100kg of additional downforce at 300km/h (186mph).

Engine

- Power is up to 600hp (441kw) thanks to high flow, larger diameter turbos which are used for GT3 racing, improved breathing and optimized individual ignition timing control for each cylinder.
- Maximum power is now achieved at 6800rpm, up from 6400.
- Torque is now over 650Nm. (more than 480 lb-ft torque)

Chassis

- The suspension is based on the setup prepared by Nismo for Nissan's entry into the 2012 Nurburgring 24-hour race. With some adaptations to improve refinement, reduce road noise and harshness, the setup is designed for stunning agility, road-holding and handing finesse.
- To minimize body-roll during cornering and changes of direction, the Nissan GT-R Nismo features a 17.3 mm hollow rear anti-roll bar which raises roll stiffness while reducing weight.
- The springs and custom-developed Bilstein DampTronic dampers in the front and rear suspension are specially tuned to deliver exceptional grip levels and progressive handling response at the limit.
- Specially-developed links fitted to the front double wishbone suspension increase castor trail to optimize wheel position during high-G cornering and improve straight-line stability. Additionally, large high-rigidity bolts are used to increase stiffness of the wheel-hub attachment area.
- The construction of the GT-R Nismo's bodyshell now uses adhesive bonding in addition to spot welding for increased rigidity and precise suspension response under extreme load, another example of Nismo "factory tuned" enhancement.

Exterior

- Notable new body elements are the rear trunk-mounted spoiler, the front carbon bumper and its lower front undercover.
- Together, the front bumper, engine undercover strake and carbon rear spoiler increase downforce, generating an additional 100kg (at 300km/h) compared to the standard GT-R model. A widened front bumper configuration and elongated yet tapered rear bumper design reduce drag to Cd 0.27.
- The GT-R Nismo's black 6-spoke wheels are inspired by Nissan's legendary GT500 race car.
- A unique to the GT-R Nismo model, a Dark Matte Grey has been developed, accentuating the car's imposing exterior muscularity.

Interior

- Ergonomically sculpted carbon-fiber-backed reclining RECARO seats (EU/JPN) comfortably, yet firmly, support the driver and front-seat passenger.
- The Nissan GT-R Nismo has a special steering wheel design which is dressed in Alcantara®, with three spokes, red center mark and red stitching to give the best combination of grip, feedback and comfort.
- Interior trim features include discreet red stitching on the seats, center console, door trim and steering wheel.
- The GT-R Nismo driver can assess his or her on-track performance by downloading and reviewing digital data from the connected services advanced performance telemetry system.

The Nissan GT-R Nismo will be available in Japan, U.S. and Europe in 2014.

Naturally, the Nissan GT-R Nismo has lapped the fearsome Nordschliefe race circuit in Germany. It continues to challenge the lap-times set by small-volume, hand-built hypercars...

Carlos Ghosn, Nissan's CEO, will announce the GT-R Nismo's laptime when the car is unveiled at Nissan's global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan at 19:00 on Tuesday 19th November at the celebration of the brand's 80th anniversary in advance of the opening of this year's Tokyo International Motor Show on Wednesday 20th November.

Wow, that thing got fast...and expensive.

indeed it's super expensive but in comparison to any other car out there, the price of performance ration is something you just can't beat and overlook. it might not have the ultra lux interior but I gotta say it it'll make sure it leaves a skid mark in your undies!

I see a few around here from time to time, so fricken cool!

It seems to me, at least the ones I've seen, are a bit understated for what they are. I usually see them in the dark grey colors, and they just look like a sports car. I have seen a few tarted up, and they lose their appeal quickly. I think most of the public would think, "oh, look at that Z", and it is not nearly as ostentatious as a Ferrari or Lambo, or even an R8 with the carbon sideburns.

I REALLY do like this car!

Now, Toyota, c'mon, lets get a proper Supra successor out there. It doesn't have to run with this bad boy, just needs to spank the pants off the 370Z. And no hybrid nonsense, please.

Sean we are pretty much out of luck with a non hybrid supra.
BMW and Toyota are getting together for a new venture that is supposedly going to bring out a new supra from it, but with hybrid technology...
Its pretty much sounding like it will be a supra with the LS460h drivetrain

Actually, toss a motor in each wheel, put the batteries below the floor and keep the luxury and toys to a minimum, I think it would be ok. Oh, needs a straight 6 as well.

These things started out at $70k. We were at the Nissan dealership last night and the 2014s are stickered at $100k.

Man, that engine compartment looks like a PITA to work in.

Unfortunately, I will never have to worry about working on it. I actually think the early 90s twin turbo Z's were worse.

Friend has a NA 93 Z32. It's pretty horrible to work on.

$200k?! It's only if you have money to piss away. I used to Love the older R34's , but these new R35's have never done much for me. For $200K, I'll take a Ferrari F430 and pocket the cash. I don't care if the GTR's faster, the F430 has fast exotic written all over it. :)

These cars are pretty fast, been given the keys to a few and every time it leaves me with a smile from ear to ear. This one was the 2013 Black Edition.

As far as I am concerned... any Japanese car with a 200K price tag has effectively removed itself from the market.

Is that a photochop or is the GTR THAT much bigger than the Z car?

The Z32 is a pretty wide car, but yes, the GTR is huge by comparison.

How about the Lexus LFA? that there is something worth buying in my opinion and way better than a comparable ferrari to boot. speaking from real driving experience :)

Tough sell for me for that kind of money, but I am much more likely to lean that way than spending it on a GTR. GTR's are coolm but they arent really supercar material in my book, whereas the LFA could get a lot closer to supercar status, so supercar money is understandable.

Sinc eI havent had the pleasure of driving an LFA, perhaps you could pick one up and bring it to TN Lance? Dinner on me. :hillbill:

the lfa drives like crap! you wouldn't like it but feel free anyway ;) haha

though at 200k on the gtr that's spec'd out like king kong, I'd say that'll be hard to beat for any "supercar" fast status. the lfa costing nearly double isn't as fast and great handling as the gtr so basically you're giving up the supercar performance for the supercar look.

either way having both in my stable would be hoot! time to win that mega ball lotto!

I'd take an Aston Martin over a Ferrari or GTR or pretty much anything else. I don't need anything super fast, and I don't want something super flashy. I'd just keep it classy with an Aston Martin.

The only exception, and if I had an unlimited budget, I'd take a Pagani Huayra. I love the moving control surfaces (or whatever you call them), and the interior is the most awesome, over the top interior I've ever seen.

I agree with you Dan, if I had the cash, Aston Martin would get my money. Their V12 is the best sounding engine I have ever heard and the styling will still look good 20 years from now. If you're driving even a 10 year old Lamborghini, you'll get laughed out of town.
