I made a ghetto mount for my P2 battery a couple years ago and always wanted to get back to making a base plate for it. The stock base plate only offers about 50% support to the over sized battery.
This started to worry me when I began jumping the truck since I figure my expensive battery could get damaged and even worse strand me somewhere.
This is the only place I saw that made them for my battery. I bought a discounted blemish one (you know I'm cheap) since it was a good deal rather then trying to fab something. I'll add pictures to the install. I think I can bolt this to our factory support and not go into the wheel well.

I had to move my battery to fit my York. My battery is closer to the radiator support and is turned 90* from factory. Is your P2 battery in the stock location?

I have a little P5 battery that's 5 years old now. I can't imagine fitting much larger in my engine compartment.

You mentioned your battery is supported by the stock base plate. I don't remember what that looks like. I stripped the area in my 4Runner so my battery sits on a rubber sheet on the flat hump in the driver side corner. Is this where you plan to mount this new carrier? You also mention bolting into the factory support. How will that work?

I ended up using a "J" style battery hook inserted into a hole I drilled in the flat battery ledge. The other side is secured to the inner fender.

I have it in the stock location but I dont think I could turn it 90 deg. That would be helpful but instead its longer. It ends up being a pretty funny size since its not particularly tall or wide. Heres a picture of whats under the stock plastic plate. Its about 90% support for a stock battery, but the p2 hangs off a lot. I also gave up on bolting it to this piece like I had intended on. Its only spot welded and great for the intended use. The p2 is heavy and will have some leverage on the spot welds, so I'm going into the wheel well with three of the bolts. Spacers take up the room between the battery perch and the wheel well.

The three bolts on the right just grab the battery platform. the three on the left go into a area of the wheel well where the tire will not touch. The spacers in between keep it from crushing together when I cranked down the bolts. My only concern going into the wheel well was scrubbing the tire. I always knew bolting to the wheel well was much stronger, but this is a good compromise.

note the ghetto mounting on my radiator overflow bottle lol

sharpe eyes will see the "whatever it is canister" has been relocated up and out of the way of the tire.

Nah, ghetto is zipties, like most of my truck. A hose clamp is perfectly acceptable. Hell, that's how many people and companies mount their remote reservoirs on their shocks.

Nicely done. Only thing that I could think of is adding a piece of rubber under your overflow. Out here in the desert plastic like that will get brittle as can be and the rubber under a metal hose clamp spreads the pressure out just enough to last a little longer. Just an idea. I personally love the battery holder. I haven't done jack with mine yet.

Nice. That looks like a great addition to hold such a large battery.
