It would cost an arm and a leg to tow my junk out there, and I cant imagine that my rig would be fun in the dunes, at all.

Assuming all goes to plan, I'll be five days into new baby ownership, so chances of making this trip are about zero. Have fun for me!

Let me save you some heart ache and a bunch of time. When it comes to kids never assume anything will ever go as planned. A lot of times its better that way anyways.

Okay, I have to ask - Do they really pre-schedule body searches?
It isn't because of a current case or missing person, or anything like that? You literally know 2 months in advance that you will be searching some mines for bodies?

lol yes its missing persons similar to this one my friends did 4 years ago.

SO, do they just let a certain number of people go missing and then say, "Alright, I guess we should go out and search the mines again." ?

Must be a west coast thing.

It's more of a "we have no indication they are there, but we have all these people missing in the area, so we should make a round through the mine".

between being a great place to get lost, fall, die, and a great place to dump a body, mines are popular spots to find missing people.

Bummer you're not going Troy. Still have to talk JD into coming this year!

That's my stepdaughter's birthday which I've missed the last 2 years, so I seriously doubt I'll be making it to Pismo this year (again). Unless of course, she decides to go away for the weekend also, then maybe I'll blast up there last minute.

BTW, dates are wrong for the thread!!!

Change of plans for me, I'm for sure going, the rest of the family is out, but I might bring 2 friends.

Unfortunately, I won't be there this year. I'll be wrapping up my truck driving school by then (if I can get used to this double clutching mess).

Going to hit up the Mountain Rendezvous this year. It's a bit closer to home. We are planning to make the Turf & Surf though if any of you plan to be there.

Which school you attending? I went through CCS about a year and a half ago. With the military downsizing I didn't want to get out after hauling cargo for 10 years with nothing.

Double clutching is important for the road test but really once you get the rig rolling float shift is what you end up doing.

I'm going through the driving program at Sampson County Community College. It's pretty cheap since it's a State run college, and the program is accredited and much better as a whole when compared to the private ($$$$) truck driving schools.

I've got the double clutching on our 10 speed Volvos down pretty good now, but I still need to work on my downshifts and skip-shifting. Yesterday, I was put on our old 13 speed (driving like a 9) GMC White, and I didn't do so hot on that. Part of that was just me not knowing the shift patter as well as I thought, and part of it was the horrible instructor that I had with me.

Downshifting can be a pita to get right all the time because it will change with the truck. I had an instructor that would back up in high while talking on a cell phone. It was pretty impressive on the lot.

I made the last 3 and hate to miss any since I haven't since I started going. I also hate to go without my RZR lol. It's in need of some parts I have on order due to a roll over. I know it's a yota meet but my Toyota will be pulling it :)

I think either way I'll be there. Most likely in the tundra this time.
