Those of ya road / trail warriors I've got a "nerd" question for ya.

Any of ya heard of iBike computers before? If so any thoughts?

:)

I have heard of them and I think I remember not really looking at them because I didn't need all the features. I just wanted an odo and trip meter along with a speedometer.

I've seen them but don't know anyone who owns one. I ride with a Garmin 500 and really like the interface, construction and useability of it. I don't have a power meter but have many friends that have Quarks, the Garmin pedals, SRM, Powertaps, etc. I think a power meter is for a specific athlete with specific goals otherwise it's just another metric.

I use my Garmin on average 6 days a week year-round. I do 6000+ miles and log every ride. Sometimes it's for a reason, other times it's just by habit. I've sent data to my cardiologist, a nutritionist as well as our main coach/guy. Every metric from every ride is there. It's hard to tell really what's going on with the iBike but I prefer the Garmin.

One site I upload is Strava and it gives a power read out even if you don't have a power meter. It needs a heart rate which is read using and ANT+ strap, I use Garmin, and gets more accurate with a cadence sensor (all these come in the bundle pack).

What are you looking to get out of a computer? Your rides?

A good friend of mine rides a lot with his wife on the weekends and they're looking at computers for their road bikes. I told em to just use strava via iphone but he's a bit of a gadget aficionado so he's looking into dedicated computers. I mentioned Garmin as they've got great stuff but I'm not sure if he's looked into them yet.

Thought I'd throw up a bone here to see if anyone has used em or have experience in the area.

My experience riding is all mtn biking stuff though my bike has aged so I'm actually looking for an upgrade. :) but that's a whole different thread topic! haha

thx!

Hate to thread jack but I do strava as well but it ends up I do much more running with it than biking....and I just use the free version.
