Well, to be fair - it is Mrs. Rocko's New Addition, as she keeps reminding me.

After her DD (a 1996 FZJ80 Land Cruiser) got totalled last winter, she has been on the hunt!
We sorted through many many Cruisers, some were decent, some were junk, some were pretty nice. What we found, we never expected. Its REALLY nice.

Mrs Rocko's 'New' 1997 Lexus LX450!

This Lexus is incredibly clean for its age, it is almost 18 years old, no doubt about that, but truly, amazing shape.
It has a Man A Fre lift (just to clear the mall crawling 305/70/16 BFG All-Terrain's - Which are practically new!)
It has never been wheeled, likely the roughest terrain it has ever seen is the gravel lot we turned around in on our test drive.

Even the wood on the inside is still in great shape! Compared to our last 80 series, this stuff is practically brand new! You can also see in this pic, if you look closely, that there is a second hazard switch at the bottom of the controls. This is a switch for the Center Diff Lock so it can be locked in high, instead of just locking automatically in low.

This thing was incredibly clean on the inside.

Last picture for now.... yes it has the 'Magic Dial', thats right, we actually found a Lexus with front and rear diff locks as well!

Cool. I didn't know they had jump seats in the back.

It is so hard to find a vehicle maintained like that one. Very nice.

Beautiful find. I'm not sure about the East coast but that would fetch some money here on the West coast.

One of the cool features of the 80 series. Seating for 7, and they are relatively comfortable. If you leave them folded up, and fold down the back seats, it will fit a full size mattress. GREAT road trip vehicle.

I'm glad someone will! 13 mpg isnt exactly getting it done. The good thing with the L6's in these things, it doesnt seem to matter if you drive it like a grandma on her way to church, or like you stole it - mpg stays pretty consistent.

The drivers seat (you will notice it is absent from the pictures) is a little rough, and the leather is torn, but again, it IS almost 18 years old. Other than that though, I was REALLY impressed!

It's not cheap here on the east coast either. We payed a little more than I wanted to, and a little more than blue book on it (KBB says $6857 in very good condition), but still under NADA (NADA says $8600 clean retail - without options added - they dont list the options for anything this old), and after having looked at Cruisers on a daily basis for 7 months... One this clean, in this shape, for this money... well obviously, I bought it.

nice find!
Thanks bud! We've been looking for a long time. We looked pretty hard at 100 series this time as well, but wound up with another 80, because the 100's just dont have the same character. They are just another SUV. (to me)

What are your plans for the beauty? It fits in almost any type of terrain as is but I know there was one running around on Volvo portal axles and 42" tires or something crazy. Funny thing was it didn't look like a monster truck...it just looked like a 3rd gen with say 35" tires on it.

No plans at all.
Its Mrs. Rocko's DD. Keep it clean, keep it running. Maybe a few interior mods to suit our needs. Thats it.

We already have the Crawler for all of our wheeling needs.
