As far as working on it yourself everything up to about 08 is diy imo. After that the computers get pretty hairy. I've had multiple tacomas (98 and 2 99s, an 82 4x4, and then my 98 4runner 4x4.

Personally I love my 3rd gen the best. Comfy, roomy, great ride, and best of all its very capable. If I were to pick another it would have to be a 4 door tacoma but no more single or extended cabs for me.

Whatcha gonna do for the green machine?? Whatever it is keep your head on a swivel. These are not peaceful times.
