I was really on the fence hosing this year's 14th Annual Pismo Jamboree but after some thinking I just couldn't walk away after lucky number 13! So with that said I've set this year's Pismo Jamboree and updated the website accordingly.

Dates: September 23-25, 2016

Happy spreading the joy and see you on the dunes this fall! I'll update the website(s) with sponsor information as I get em rolling in.

Good times!

1300 miles ish? You could drive it in a day.

1150, about 20 hours. Not terrible

Right around the corner!

We were hoping to have our roof top tent, before this year's trip to Pismo. Not in the cards. But, we will have our new Prinsu roof rack, so it's a start. At least we won't have to cram all our gear in the back of the Cruiser!

Sounds good Adam! Still crazy that you guys fit inside with gear last year.

Hi Guys,

Thinking I will get there about 11PM Friday night, I'm assuming that I will be able to just drive in at that hour? Going to make my reservations tomorrow.

Never really camped on the beach before is a tent recommended or is sleeping in the truck the preferred route? Not sure I have the right tent stakes for the sand assuming there is such a thing.

The Oceanus Dunes website seems to be a little lacking in information. Are fires allowed? Do we bring firewood?

Rob,

Don't bother with reservations, save the 9 dollars they charge.

Just drive in. If no one is at the booth, settle up with them in the morning.

If you can avoid a tent, that's best. The wind and sand make tent camping a bit of a pain. Lexi and I will be in a tent.

Bring your firewood. I'm taking 2 bins worth.

Rob,
All things Sean mentioned...plus

Only thing I'll add is don't drive faster than 15mph once you enter, even though its tempting. Rangers are parked on the beach to cite speeding (no speed limits on the dunes). Note the meeting GPS coordinates past Pole # 4 because there may be other groups with Toyota's. You may not need to air down till you come off the wet sand.

Thanks Guys, I will be sure to watch my speed.

Are there GPS coordinates somewhere or will they go up once someone gets to camp?

Not sure which vehicle I am taking yet. Sean do you have plans to put a flag on the 100? Wondering how I could jury rig that as there is nothing more than the factory roof rack to mount to .

I set up a tent but only to put stuff in it so I can sleep in the 4Runner. It also minimizes the amount of sand I track into the vehicle moving stuff around. While out in the dunes I prefer to/don't need all my food, ice chest, etc. I keep my tools, clothes bag and other goodies with me in the truck. It's nice to have them near but also minimizes the chance that they might walk off while I'm out.

Rob,
They're posted on pismojamboree.com but here you go...
For those that have GPS, here is the camp coordinates:

N35 03.920
W120 37.772

I'll post the final coords when we get there Friday.

Trying to finish up some last minute wiring but it's just a little too wet to run the soldering iron on the driveway. I don't feel like being electrocuted today.

I should add I made a bracket for my flag and lighted whip.

Thanks Guys.

I am still torn between taking the 4runner and the wife's landcruiser. Leaning toward the 4runner and sleeping in a tent as all my camping stuff is embedded in my 4runner and I just spent a week gusseting my balls and replacing really bad front shocks.

looking forward to seeing you all (ass-less chaps or not) Friday night or Saturday morning.

Rob, take the 100! It'll handle perfectly on the dunes!

The gates will be open so you'll be able to drive onto the beach. Just make sure to drive back out and pay your fees Saturday morning.

Camp site will be most likely between pole 5 and 6 which is a good 15-20 min south from the south gate entrance of Oceano Dunes SVRA. I should have GPS markers tomorrow evening once a few of the guys pick out a good spot for us. Just look for a group of Toyota's and you should be all set. I'll try to have the Pismo Jamboree and UltimateYota banners along the row of RV's so hopefully that'll make it easier to find us.

You're SAS'd 3.0 4runner? I'd probably go for the landcruiser because power is king in the dunes. With the 3.0 you have to go everywhere in 4 low because the engine doesn't have enough power and you get bogged down in High.

Also, sleeping inside a vehicle is much better because there are people riding motorcycles and partying at all hours of the night and it's much quieter inside.

We decided to leave Thursday night and get a motel in Pismo. Took us 6 hours to get here, including the hour we spent parked on the 134 because someone hit a bridge.

Ok, Lance and Steve convinced me, rigged up the ultimate in cheesy flag mounts last night. Headed out with the 100 tonight after I get packed, figure I will leave somewhere about 8PM from orange county so I will be there late tonight. Hopefully it won't take my 6 hours (that sucks). See you all in the morning.

Sad we missed you Troy!

We got in at about 10 last night. We enjoyed having virtually NO traffic!!!

I'll post up the 4 pictures I took and some dash cam footage later on.

Great trip, the wind was brutal though.

Thanks again Lance, Chris and all for another great year. I got home with enough day light to vacuum out the 4Runner and spray some air freshener in there. I'll dig out my camera after I get the kids down and see what I got.
