You all know I loved the driving experience of my all-electric Nissan Leaf, which has been out of my possession for almost a year now. (Lease-end). Something new is coming out that is interesting to me.

Important stats:
398 hp and 472 ft lbs torque
0-60 in 6.3 seconds. (It must be heavy because a Supercharged 3rd gen is 6.4 sec according to THIS (http://www.motortrend.com/features/archive/112_9808_toyota_4runner_chevy_tahoe/)
31 miles of EV range at 85 MPH (I imagine that range is much better at congested commute speeds)
Some offroad capability. Not as capable as the 4Runner, but these days, what is?
Looks good. But not as good looking as the new Prius. (Just kidding)

I can't afford a RR, but love the direction this is headed. Being able to do my commute in electric mode and having the capability to do a trail in silent EV mode is something I really want to experience.

What I find more interesting is how the electric motor might help change the way we offroad. Just thinking out loud wouldn't the use of the electric motor be more like a crawl feature or even a pseudo crawler since it's easier to control? Some food for thought :)

I can't imagine what that thing might cost.

I think I'll hold out for this guy to make a kit. By then I'm sure my 4Runner will be delegated to my jump'n truck anyway.

Without an engine he's made great use out of the frunk.

Absolutely. Insta-torque as soon as you start to move. Infinitely variable CVT with no clutches or friction material to burn up (they use the motor-generator to "hold" the different elements of the planetary set-up)=nothing to really wear. If they really want to get crazy, wheel motors to eliminate axles/CV drivetrain (better clearance than portals)

The concept is great however what happens when things break? I know we've all had that happen out in the sticks at one point of our lives with our toys. With as much electronics involved this would be one of my most dreaded moments of oh !(*@#(*!@&(@#&*$. :)
