I got into toyotas within the last year, I have my 04 Taco, and of course am looking for either about a 96 Tacoma, or an 85 or 86 Runner for a trail rig project, although I think I may be leaning toward the 96. ;) Anyway, glad to see the boar dup, looks good, and glad to be with you guys again!!

Been Toyota only for nearly 10 years and recently have been upgrading the family fleet.
I started a little site for my new 97 4runner project http://sr5-4runner.com, and have even been considering selling the 85...

Hey all! Just signed up today. Great looking site here!

Not much about me, just a college student at University of NC at Charlotte. I work on campus setting up audio/visual and video conferencing equipment.

My goal is to graduate college debt free, so no spending $$ on my 4Runner for now. :D
I'm working on a Geography major with a concentration in Geographic Information Systems. Fun stuff!

Anyways, that about all the intersting stuff here.

Hey,
Mike here from the old place...
I bought my yota off a neighbor for cheap. He had mud terrains and I decided to try them out at a local wheeling spot. I got addicted, found forums and started modding and reading. I have become obsessed with toyota trucks ever since reading our mods great tech articles...
Thanks!

i've defected from you-know-where. i think my goals are pretty much the same, just at a new venue. for me the truck is a tool, not really an end in itself, though if you ask my wife she would tell you differently ;-) i need it to get me from point A to point B, and if it would stop making those dang clunks from the front-end, that would be just dandy.

Hey y'all! I know a ton of you from other boards and didn't know about this one till I got together with Matt (Localmotion) for a mod day yesterday. I like the site and maybe since it is more tech oriented this will motivate me to actually do write ups for my mods ;) . Looking forward to getting settled in here in the new home! I'll find the garage section and post up the stuff about my truck for those who don't know me.

How about yota channles. Mister Willie, chokingly and ruby, please don't block this or delete this this is free speech and canonly be consider as such. I like both then Little guy they are noble kids and would contribute here. they have big dream I like to follow. plus they had girl problems that we all enjoined... Arvy is good, and has info to offer. I was glad to see ruby come over. and chickenlover. why wait for a change in their status as being baned.
This is America, I think they can live on their own merits, let then do so. This country was discoverer on freedom of speech. I would like to see Death Cougar here. he was a solid man and back downed form no one. you have flaming as a no no in your rules this isn't flaming this is stating the truth. Whey did all of you leaven, because the principle's that your parents tough you about fair play and you own seance of it... That me friends and fellow Americans the point to where we are!!!!! I can not say it enough. Freedom is not free! Its the likes like us who are willing to protest a wrong when we see it. And having the courage to follow through with it no matter at the price that is paid for that freedon. We do not need to walk around on egg schells here and be afraid of outher forums? note I did say forms, we are not at war the policy has be set, but out policy is by far a friendly and fairer to the members rights as any outher form. We have nothing to be ashamed of her or do we have any thing to be afraid of here we are the high road we are following our constitutional rights, no one is ashamed of that!!! TJ

Hello everyone:
I was a long time lurker on 'another Yota forum' then I caught wind of this one and realized it was everything I could ever ask for.. :gay:
I have owned a couple 4runners (1st and 3rd gen) and have enjoyed wrenching on them and constantly admiring the attention to detail and engineering that goes into our trucks. I am nearly done my Mechanical engineering degree at UBC :screwy: and look forward to possibly getting into automotive design(for Toyota of course). So enough of the blah blah, thanks for an awesome site and I hope to learn a ton and contribute as much as I can.

Sup peeps, Stevo here.

My obbsession started waaay waaay back in the day when my bro had a slammed toyota pickup. The truck was extremly reliable, but the suspension wasnt. Always have loved the body styles of the yotas.

Then came the time to drive, Got a hand down car for a few hundred till I saved up enough to get my 4Runner :). I Had my Runner as a weekend warrior under insurance and my Beretta as the DD. As soon as I got my Toyota though, I have yet still to drive my car again. And that was over 2 years ago since I bought my baby.

What can I say. Toyotas are the best!

04-19-2007, 02:38 PM
Hey guys,

I made the switch from Yotatech also... although I'm sure I'll still be periodically lurking around the old fighting grounds as well.

Background about me: I'm a Mechanical Engineer, and love to tear things apart. I bought my first Toyota in early 2005. The '02 4Runner shown in my avatar. I found Yotatech.com shortly after that, and got very interested in performing my own maintenance. Since then, my only visits to the dealership have been to pick up parts or to get alignments and MVI inspections.

In august 2006, I bought my '93 4Runner, which I've slowly been nursing back to health since.

As always, I hope to provide as much help as I can, and continue to learn from the best Toyota wrenchers around!

How do, all!!

Yep, just heard about the new board today, so I had to come have a look see!

Started my Yota addiction about 20 years ago, when I went camping, MTB riding, and wheeling with a group of friends with 2 trucks and a 4Runner in Moab. I got my '90 SR5 XTra cab 4X4 in '91, and have had it ever since. I've now put almost 5,000 miles on her since the 3.4 conversion that I finished just before Christmas.

It's good to see some familiar names, knowing what kind of knowledge they represent!

Looking forward to learning more, and helping out, too (once I get used to the lay-out! lol!)

Morphine checking in. Better late then never I say. So I'll try and stick to the OP's questions:

1.) Tell us a little about yourself
So I'm 29 and work as a network/systems engineer (yeah i get to do both jobs!) I'm happily engaged for what seems like an eternity, and have 7 children - those being my 2 huskies and 5 cats!
2.) How you became interested in Toyotas
My first car at the age of 16 was an automatic 91 Yota extra cab that I slammed to the ground then lifted up, and everything in between. Many good memories and many good times. She never let me down!!! I've always had good luck/experiences with Toyota and I love the body lines of the now older trucks and 4runners.
3.) What you hope to learn here
Well as much as possible!!! I'm a mechanical noob but love to try! I'm not afraid to ask questions so sometimes I can help others learn....whether I understand it or not!

x2and4x saying hello. :smokin: but changed my name to a s/n I use more. This is like the 4th time I have tried to post here. :headscratch: damn timeout feature was kickin my A$$. Then I would just give up for the day. What can I say I am slow and lazy.
My love for the Toyota trucks started back when i worked for a surveying company on whidbey island. The company had 6 trucks ranging from an 85 - 97. all which were a blast to drive. My ownership didn't start until i got my MR2 shortly after I moved back to Iowa :shake:. And then a year after that I saw my Purple :chair: I mean blue 4runner.
I haven't made to many changes to the runner since the day i got it. but hopefully that will soon change.

I was wondering where all of you went.

1.) Tell us a little about yourself

I am 39 years old, very happily married, 6 year old son, I am an endodontist. :yikes:

2.) How you became interested in Toyotas

I have been a proud owner of Toyotas for quite some time. '86 Supra, 90 Xtra cab 4x4 (213,000 miles - still regretting the day I got rid of it. :screwy:), '96 Camry, '04 Sequioa (Wife's Camry turned into this at the stroke of midnight...), '98 4runner.

3.) What you hope to learn here

I hope to learn as much as possible from everyone. I love working on my runner, it's 'relatively' cheap and relaxing at that. Some people smoke, some people drink, I mod my 4runner...

by the way, GREAT FORUM

I have been driving toyotas since I was 16 and my mom help me purchase a '92 extracab v6 5spd that I wish I still had to this day. I was into the show scene so I put about $12K into looks, lift, and music. I sold her and owned 2 tacomas ... '97 xcab v6 5spd and '99 xcab 2.7L 5spd. I recently purchased a '91 xcab v6 5spd that I have been dieing to fix up, but didn't know the direction I wanted to go till now. I put on a set of 33x10.50 BFG A/Ts on SR5 wheels with stock suspension. I can't wait to hit some real good trails and really break my noob sstatus when it comes to 4wheelin.

I'm sure everyone can help me out in building up my truck and making me a great weekend warrior with my truck.

Hello everyone thought I would join up. Some of you may of seen me posting on Yota tech. I got into Toyotas the day my dad brought home our brand new 4runner in 2000. Since then I've been a big fan of Toyota products, mostly 4runners.

I'm here. Married with an 8 year old son. Enjoy camping, but the wife doesn't.

I got my first Yota in early January 2005. It was an 88, 3.0L, 5spd longbox. At that time, my friends were surprised that I even got a truck (It was actually for my wife who just started a new job, but she didn't like it). I recall paying a garage to have the 2 drive belts, one rear brake cylinder and a sway bar link replaced for around $450. When I told a friend, he seemed to be visibly upset and advised me that I could have changed the belts myself for next to nothing. Every since then, I decided it was time to learn how to fix it myself.

Since January 2005, I've had a total of 7 Toyota trucks; 6 of which had 22re's. I bought, fixed and sold 5 of them, and my most recent purchase was about a month ago. I've been able to do just about everything on my stock trucks with the exception of a major block/head overhaul. I started off with a few cheap wrenches and hand tools, and now I estimate that I've invested well over $7000 worth of tools. The spending just doesn't seem to stop...

Looks like this forum is doing pretty good. Just what i need...yet another one to spend and waste time on.

I'm "working" on my '96 now...seeing what should be done before it gets lifted and a few other goodies i have waiting to be installed. I'll add a writeup or something once i get cracking...hopefully soon.

Hey guys,

I am Jason Bassett from Nashville (just posted in the newbie section). I am 33 and married to my wife Kim and have a son Andrew who is 12 months old. I am fairly new to Toyota...I have owned my 4Runner for 1-1/2 yrs. and love it. We also have a 96 Lexus ES300. I look forward to gain a little knowledge from you guys and hopefully wheel with some of you guys in the Tn. area sometime. :hillbill:

My name is Jeremy and I got into my 4runner because I was looking for a 4 wheel drive for winter 3 years ago and have been hooked ever since. I would have more done to it but getting engaged is not cheap, but it is a good thing. I hope to help and learn as much as I can, you guys run a good site here. Thanks!
