View Full Version : Coke Ovens and Battleaxe, AZ

Headed out to the coke ovens. There are no signs, ropes chains etc out there saying that the land in on private property. There were a couple of quad groups and one other jeep group out there. Very busy!
We did go to the actual ovens...

VERY!
Its was about 100 that day. It actually felt great from 8am to about 12. We all had the windows down sunroof open etc. Then jump to about 3 and everyone had the windows up and AC on.
The water was NICE!! The river rocks walking to the river were hot enough to burn you though!

I love this pic.  The vertical cacti play off the rounded coke ovens nicely.  I like that little ring the ovens have too.  Very cool!

How big are the doorways on the ovens?

If they weren't in a straight line, you'd almost think they were some pigmy huts or something.  :P
