I bought a fuse panel (http://12voltguy.com/catalog.0.html3.0.html) from 12voltguy for my 4Crawler head light wiring harness and for any future additions. One thing that I've noticed is that most people seem to be mounting the fuse panel on the firewall inside the engine bay, I was thinking of mounting it to the inner fender right behind the battery (4-6" away from the battery, rather than mounting it 5 feet away).

I'm thinking that I'd rather have the shortest possible path for the electricity to follow.

What are your thoughts on the various mounting locations?

As long as the wire gauge is adequate, the difference between mounting on the fender vs the firewall is negligible.

Yep, shouldn't matter where you mount it as long as you do it right. I have one mounted in my kickpanel in the interior and it does fine.

BTW your link is broken.
