So I installed my wheelskin over the faded factory leather wheel. Looked at the real replacement but I wanted to change it up on the interior a bit, and well im really hard on steering wheels i think (chemicals etc..) and these are pretty cheap. I got the dual tone brown on the sides and oak on the top and bottom. I used the baseball stitch to sew. Took about 2hrs (many breaks) I think ill redo it later since I now figured it out better towards the end. For those with a 3rd gen 4 spoke wheel, i cut the thread in half to do the stitch. I had 16ft to begin with (that wheelskins provided), then cut in half, 8ft for each side, and had about 1.5ft left when done on each side. This thing feels way better than the stock..OK ok pics...Its not too shabaquoi...

ya thats an aftermarket one, and may be the wheelskins..you can tell since it it is not flush with the spokes, but goes over them instead. you can see the factory leather where the spokes begin and are then covered

if you go to the bottom of this thread http://www.ultimateyota.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=1233.0
and zoom you can see my steering wheel and how the spoke and rest of the wheel is wrapped with the same leather and even.

DNA,

Looks great :) my steering wheel has always been scuffed up at the top (not sure why...woman's ring?) and the feel bothers me every once in awhile. Can't tell, but did you stitch it over the old wheel? Or did you cut away the old cover?

I think they all get stitched over the old wheel....if the wheel is bad enough you could just get a used one instead.
Those wheelskins look like they are very good quality compared to some I've seen out on the market.

Yes, the cover is just stitched over the original . There are other covers that are replacements but this is just a cover. You would not want to remove the original cover when putting on a wheelskin cover since the original covers the spokes, whereas the wheelskins do not.
