I got hitch material (sort of) and welded it to the winch mounting plate then fabbed a cradle to wrap around the mount. The winch mount sits in the cradle with 2 hitch pins securing it to the rest of the truck.

The winch slips in from the top.

Here's the finished product
http://www.robinhood4x4.com/gallery2/Front%20bumper/images/IMG_1624%20(Small).JPG
To move it to the back I use 2x2 tube and slide it into the winch bracket.

http://www.robinhood4x4.com/gallery2/Front%20bumper/images/IMG_1635%20(Small).JPG
And then just plug it into the hitch receiver in the rear.

And yes, the tranny cooler has been moved.

the winch mount is 3/8" with 1/4" bumper mounts and 1/4" bottom spoiler.
The sides (minus the corners which are 1/4" for beating on) are 1/8" 2x4 tapered down with 1/4" top plates. The bottom plates of the sides are also 1/4".

You asked for it. Yes, these have been field tested and proved they could hold 1/2 can of ice cold beverage from Sheep Canyon to the hardball in Borrego Springs. Skinny pedal applied.

Just ran across this thread, figured I would throw mine in here. It is pretty simple and will later get a center hoop and tie into an exo.

my weekend project - 2" round, 1/8" thick, 3 bolts on the front + 2 through the tow hook on each side (10 bolts total) . . . I don't think it'll go anywhere

When I make up my mind about lighting, I'll put in 2 diagonal braces on the top hoop to the main bar. I may also try to retro-fit a winch tray onto it, but I'm not sure it'll work

I think I figured it at 50-60 lbs, but well worth it. Back in Hampton, VA, when I first installed it, I had the pleasure of caving in the rear 1/4 of a Corolla that did a triple lane change into my front end. Old man's car was drivable but much uglier for the encounter. I had a little bit of paint transfer onto my bumper, but no damage otherwise

Nice - I have 4" round 3/8" thick steel waterpipe rear bumper on mine. Had similar experience with a civic that came out of a driveway way to closeto me.

Thanks, but its not heavy at all, only weighs about 90 lbs. That's much less than most aftermarket bumpers.

Still racking miles on the FUNrunner. I'm kind of stuck with it since I just put a new motor & new ipt transmission in it late last year. Would love to trade it for a bone stock 05 Tundra.
