Need advice with sliders

So Im taking off my body lift, since I pretty much crap my pants whenever I go wheeling.

I want to keep the sliders, but, obviously with the body lift going down, I'll have to do something.

1) I can try to bend them downwards
2) Cut off, reweld them
3) Take them off for good.

Problem w/ #2 is that I have 4"x4" brace plates that were welded to the frame. I can't imagine grinding them all the way down to the frame. They are 1/4" thick...

So far I have yet to actually use the rock sliders. They are nice to have to get into the truck, and I think they are just pretty sweet in general... Noone can ding my doors, side impact crash will be safter, and if I did hit some rocks, no big deal. But, Im thinking it will be easier to just ditch them.

Also, I like the idea of having some gap inbetween the body and frame for working on the truck. I have a 1" BL sitting in a box right now, and thinking about just swapping a 1" in. If I took it down 1" I think I could just bend the suckers down a bit... but, if I took off all 2", then Id have to cut them.

Any suggestions? Thanks...

Dunno anything about fabwork, but maybe if you posted pictures of the plates, someone could advise you as to how to work around them maybe?

Can you cut them off but leave the plates and then reweld them lower on the plates, maybe adding in some gussets for strength?

im in agreement with chris and all terrain: post pics so we can assess the situation and most likely, re-weld them on the same plates if possible

You're not going to be able to bend them without a lot of heat and I wouldn't want that much heat that close to my truck. Your best bet is to either do like the others are saying and move them lower (adding plate if necessary) or cut them off and angle them down so they clear the body.
