Looks like the PreRunners and 4WD's got the same size tires from the factory in 2002.

2002 Toyota Tacoma 4WD - OE Tire Size - 225/75/15 (29 X 9)
2002 Toyota Tacoma 4WD (TRD Pkg) - OE Tire Size - 265/70/16 (31 X 10.5)
2002 Toyota Tacoma Pre Runner - OE Tire Size - 225/75/15 (29 X 9)
2002 Toyota Tacoma 2WD - OE Tire Size - 205/75/15 (27 X 8)

Your current 245/75/16's are about 30.5 X 9.5
I think you should be able to fit 265/75/16's without much problem (32 X 10.5)

Another issue to consider--I also drive a ton (~2,500 miles per month). I have some crappy A/T tires on right now that I'll be switching out. When I switch them out, I will be getting a stock sized A/S tire. No use wasting a M/T or A/T tire on the streets, plus they will have shorter tread life and get worse MPG. So, I'll be getting a second set of off-road/winter tires on another set of wheels.

supposedly the geolander at-s is a at/ street tire. go to yokohama website and check them out. they are about 20% cheaper than BF's and more of a street pattern but with some aggressivness for a little offroading and snow.. people that bought it loved it. supposedly they last atleast 45-50k miles which is pretty damn good imo

you may also want to look into the Kumho Road Venture A/T's I have them on my 04 DCab Taco in a 265/75/16 variety, I've been pretty impressed with them, and they ride nice on the road and are quiet.

Yeah, that's not bad, but still won't beat a good A/S tire for treadwear and road comfort. Also, with the upsized tire, your MPG will go down probably by 2 MPG or so.

I'll probably end up with Mich LTX M/S for street use and something more aggressive for winter/off-road on 80-series LC wheels.

how much are they and will they last on a lot of highway miles??

i may keep the same size tire if getting a size up will make my gas mileage go down. i have enough clearence for what i need to do now but a little extra more wouldnt hurt but not if its going to cost me in gas mileage..

I dont think you'll notice a big difference between your current tires and 265/75/16's. I think I lost maybe .5-1.0 mpg when I swapped.

My Kumho's are wearing great, and I run a TON of highway miles. They are holding great so far, i'd say they have been on for 10,000 miles or so, and dont look worn at all.

here is a link to some ratings for them, and reviews...

here is some pricing on them:

Looks like a 265/75/16 (basically a 32" tire) can be had for as little as $96.00 a tire.
