i love my truck.. i have driven it over 40k miles in the last year and few months. i bought it with 52k and now have over 90k miles with no issues once so ever!! i have tried to find "issues" online with this model tacoma but i havent seem to find any. no sludging motor issues, no tranny issues, no electrical, no nothing.. this is a fine change from my jeeps i USED to own..

I am in love with my 2002 d-cab. So is my wife, I never get to drive it!

The only issue I know of is that they came with very weak leaf springs. Other than that, no issues....

Never heard about the leaf springs.
The only issue I have is the location of the clock. What where they thinking?

the only issue i am having now is a rough ride, i know they arent cadilacs.. i have bf long trails (SUCK) that have about 15k miles or so left and the original springs and shocks (90k miles).. makes for a bumpy ride but not too bad. my jeep wrangler was worse by far.

I don't know of any issues, either. I wanted to pick up a d-cab after I sold my Jeep GC, but they were hard to find, and the ones I did find, the owner wanted premium $$ for them. I almost went and bought one, but found a good deal on my 4Runner. I still wish I bought a d-cab everytime I see one, though.

yeah i got the d-cab. took me 4 months and when i found one in a great condition i jumped on it and payed $20k for it. when i bought it, it had 52k miles on it, not a scratch, and with the yota 100k mile warranty to boot.. i love my truck.

leaf springs suck for sure but pretty easy to replace...83,000 on mine and no real issues yet. had the cruise contol die and that was a b&%$# to fix but other then that...knock on wood! :D

The weak leaf springs are the cause for the "axle wrap" that a couple people experience. No problems with my truck that I didn't cause myself.

Now if only the vent selector switch would work reliably! :D

Quality shocks = quality ride no matter what you drive. OME's have a number of bolt-on options that work well with the weight of the truck IMHO.

Toyota used incredibly weak leaf springs to make for a more comfortable ride.

4Runners suffer from a similar rear coils being too soft problem also. :shake:
