This may be more of a question than a suggestion (but I guess it could be a suggestion that forum members be taught how to do this :D)

Anyways, Jamie (MTL_4Runner) posted some pics in a thread, and they were visible as thumbnails of the pics. Clicking on them blew them up to normal size, right in that window. Could the members of this forum be educated on how that is done, please? It makes for some better write ups.

Also, from what I can tell, when you post a picture using the [img] function, the picture has to remain at the host location (ex. Yahoo photos) for it to be displayed, is that correct?
Thanks.

All you need to do to attach photos is to....

If you use Quick post at the bottom
1) click on preview
2) click on additional options in red to the left and just below the message box
3) click browse and select the photo for attaching from your hard drive

If you use reply
1) click on additional options in red to the left and just below the message box
2) click browse and select the photo for attaching from your hard drive

Only one attachment appears at first so select "more attachments" in red next to the browse if you need to add more than one (one click for each new attachment). You only allowed 4 photos per posting and they all must be 128kb or smaller. The thumbnails automatically appear so that is a default setting for the attachments used by UY.

Is there anyway to do this if your pics are on photobucket?

If your pics are hosted on the net already, all you need to do is to link to them using the "IMG" button in the post (looks like a picture frame, right below the italics button). The web address of the photo gets put in between the your_photo_url_goes_here brackets (I used an extra space before the trailing "]" for demonstration purposes). If you don't know what the photo address is, just right click on the photo and select "properties" and you'll see the web address of the photo in the box that appears next to where it says "Address (URL)". Some photo sites have what is called dynamic linking and can't be displayed this way. You can often tell because there won't be any extension to the address (ie no .jpg or .gif at the end.....just because it's not there doesn't always mean it can't be linked so just check first before assuming). Even pages that block the right click option on pics can often be bypassed by using the view menu and then selecting "source". The address of the pic will be in there, but it may take some digging through html code to find it. The only thing that can't be linked to for sure is flash images so if you want those, you'll need to save it to your hard drive using the three finger ctrl-alt-printscreen (press and release all at once) command, then pasting to your favorite graphics program to crop to size and finally attaching the photo in your post as mentioned above.

If your pics are on the net and you want to attach them in the post instead, then you'll need to save them to your hard drive first, reduce them to 128 kb or smaller and then attach them as I mentioned above.

Hope this helps everyone.

Another way if you are hosting your own pics on photobucket to have thumbnails and then larger images when clicked is to use your thumbnail image as a link to the large image.

For example:

http://addressofyourthumbnailimage.jpg

(extra space added before trailng "]")
