I spent the day detailing the turbo Outback today--did the wash, clay bar, paint polish and carnuba wax routine:

It's funny how many young kids tell us we have a "killer car"--not something you would expect when you drive a station wagon.

Funny how throwing a hood scoop on a station wagon can make it "cool" to drive. :spit:

How's the MPG on those outbacks?

The hoodscoop on the 2.5 XT's are functional. Like the WRX STi's, air feeds the top-mount intercooler through the scoop.

Mileage is decent, it is rated at 19 city and 25 highway, which is pretty much what we get. It does have 250 hp and all wheel drive, neither of which help the mileage much. The regular 175 hp 4 cylinder is rated at 27 mpg highway. It's a really fun car to drive, believe it or not!

I forgot to say very nice detailing job as well.

My neighbor has a Lecacy turbo that is just a complete rocket (but she does complain about the gas mileage too which is why I asked). I seriously looked at them because of the AWD aspect but ended up with a Civic instead somehow. :(

I've heard the 08's get a little better mileage due to the "Si drive" control knob they installed in the center console. There are three settings, including economy, that adjust the sensitivity of the throttle-by-wire. I believe the reason ours only gets 25 mpg on the highway is because the throttle and engine are so sensitive to slight changes in throttle angle, that the turbo is constantly spooling up and you feel the car start to pull, then you left off, etc. The Si-drive is supposed to make this uneven driving more noticeable to the driver. But yeah, they're fun cars.

Looks good for sure. Black looks super clean after its all done up. My 4Runner is two completely different vehicles from clean to dirty.

Now whats up with riping on the Wagons? Wagons are where its at. As long as any vehicle is available in a wagon, thats the only way to go. Like my previous car. 2004.5 Audi A4 Avant, or Wagon if you must. Damn i miss that car, another one will come though, and it will be badder than the old one.

Nice looking Audi! Was it a turbo 4 or V6? (Or better yet, the turbo V6 S4?)

Thanks, It was a turbo 4. Highly modified though. 130hp over stock and 185tq over stock.

That's the beauty of forced induction, they are so easy to get power of them. My last turbo car dyno'd 430 hp, which was exactly 200 hp over stock, all gained via intake, exhaust, larger turbo and a healthy dose of boost.

It's also the official car of something else, but we won't get into that. (The Forester anyway.)

LOL. That's funny, I didn't think any non-californian would understand what I was talking about.

Did another full detail of the car today. I love the interior, especially the electroluminescent gauges.

If I had FAR more spare time, I would convert the 4Runner illumination to red and swap gauge clusters.

For those of you with leather interiors, I highly recommend MacGuire's leather lotion (moist towelettes). They clean, condition and have UV protectant to help the leather survive summer heat.

Someone needs to do the swap. I wouldn't know how to get the Toyota sending units to talk to the Subaru gauges.

I will not be pioneering that swap until I have a DD and some knowledge of the electrical world, and even they I would be scared s*&^less if I tired lol!
