Well, the list of to do's got a little smaller today.

The before:
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF0423.jpg
you really should not let friends drink and do auto repairs. (PO and a buddy thought they might fix the sunroof)

A grinder, some Bondo, and a little Sea Foam lubricant:
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1529.jpg

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1528.jpg

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1527.jpg

They had ground out some pretty big spots to weld on that sheet metal, filled those in.

Motor was seized pulled it apart and cleaned it up. Switch was broken, had a different one, but of course it had a different plug. So hard wired it is.

One question well actually i have two.

Why is the sunroof motor powered off the gauge fuse? Which also powers up the dome lights key buzzer and possibly the rear window?

I know i have some hacked up wiring as i had to fix it tonight. but from the quick look i did it looks like it suppose to be there.

Anyway going to direct wire it up off a fuse aux block.

Second question.

As you are probably wondering "why the he-- did he spray all over the glass?"

it is the reason the PO did what they did is the glass is broken and the "motor was shot"

So does anyone know how to remove the glass from the sunroof? Thinking some plexi is in order or if the price is OK a replacement Safety glass.

Oh and does anyone have the sunroof control trim for a 90's 4Runner?
Broke it taken it down.

I bet you can get a real sunroof cheap from somebody parting their 4runner.

True enough but i would need local.

Anyone local have a lead?

Not so much worried about seeing out it. Just dont want to hit a bump and have a lap of glass come falling down.

Why? Just gotta make sure it's packed well.

This is where I got my rear window in the bay area. They're a toyota dismantler.

Well the march continues.

This weekend final touches on quite a few things.

Had the dash tore apart to rewire some stuff and install a new radio. Also got to fix the broken speedo. Its easier to tell how fast you are going when there is a needle attached.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1569.jpg

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1574.jpg

Installed the remote fuse block, Ran a 4g from the battery to the block and tossed in an 80amp fuse to protect it all as well as the individual ones for each circuit.
Rewired the power for the sunroof, CB, and the new power station i put in on the passenger side.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1571.jpg

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1573.jpg

Put in a new CV axle, drivers side was shot. got it out in like 30 min. Thank you all for all the write ups. Did the bolt and nut mod for ease of removal next time. Got a brand new one from Auto Zone for $69 no core required, Lifetime Warranty. Thing was definitely needing a replacement, as i was walking up to the door the whole thing feel apart into two pieces.

Slide on some manual hubs i got for UKMyers, Thanks again for the sweet deal Joey.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1572.jpg

Last weekend i converted over to 134a. Threw on the vacuum for 30 min held strong, grabbed a set of gauges used the 12-134 adapter for the can and in went a couple of cans. Much better. Had some issues with the electric fan for the AC not turning on, turns out someone shoved an ink pen in it jamming it up. Pop-ed that out and all seems to be good. Compressor has sat for quite a while so it like to make noise on or off, we'll see.

Size matched spare tire. Thank you again norcalsvx. For those who haven't had the pleasure, Chris really goes out his way to hook up a Buddy. I got a very suitable BFG All Terrain 32 for a spare and a couple 50% 31s for the 83. Gave me the tire mounted it and had it balanced. Sweet. Oh and did i mention it was all FREE.
It seems he has his sights set on a new career and i definitely will be making trips up to help out, and to sample the goods. For all you local people make sure you make it a point to stop by and help him out when he gets started, i am sure it will be worth the drive. Not sure if i should post up before it happens so just watch out for his announcement.

Pics to come was to dark when i found the camera.

Oh ya 1/2 off prices this weekend @ U pull it.

Got some odds and ends for some projects.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1638.jpg

Some "new" buckets out of a 95 Camry. Bit dirty but i'll clean em up and throw some covers on em to match the interior.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1640.jpg

popped out a Under hood Fuse block out of an Acura Legend. Thinking it would make for a nice OEM look for an Aux fuse/ Relay block.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1643.jpg

Got quite a few of those Lights Paddlebike used for his LED project.
Only need a few of em, have extras. If anyone needs one or two let me know they were pretty inexpensive.

I have a 1st gen rollbar i have yet to start to modify. Found these in a Amigo. Looks like they might fit in here quite nicely.

Also found at least three Isuzu's with rear disks any thoughts on if they would be a good swap? only part i am questioning would be the mounting of the caliper, thinking i could just make a plate to bolt on the axle. Ideas or have done comments appreciated.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1649.jpg

Since i gave my dash trim piece to a Guy in need over on YotaTech (for the life of me i cant remember his name, the EMT from Ohio??)a long time ago I found another one to replace mine. (free... Karma is great)

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1654.jpg

Got my "Where is the Wabbit" stickers on. (he is as always very prompt, me I'm a bit slow)

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/reggiemiller00/DSCF1645.jpg

and of course that meant i spent some time putting on others i have collected since too.

Have a project in mind but i cant seem to find the link.

I know i saw a guy change his pistol grip shifter over to i want to say a 2wd T-handle.

Anyone have the link, or have better luck finding it?

I saw a T-handle shifter out at the junk yard yesterday, in a Cressida i think. would like to change it.

Going to look around for a different one for the T-case too.

For local people, that want to change out seats, they have a nice set out of a Prelude, and a newer Civic, and i think there are a few newer Toyota cars with some nice seats.

When i have more time i am going to go back and see if i can mod the rear seats to something nicer.

Also got the solenoids out of a 93 Cherokee so i can fix my code 62 tranny problem.

Am i off base on the shifters?

I am still looking for that link.

Kinda got sidetracked looking up LSD info. Have a few possible candidates to check out at the bone yard this weekend.

Didnt take to long and hopefully weather permitting i'll have it back together this weekend.

For those with a Harbor Freight near by, those jack stands are the 6 ton ones. They sit a bit taller than the normal 3 ton variety. I use to have to stack 2 4*8 inch blocks of wood and put a piece of plate on top to get it high enough in the air. Got these on sale (which i think last till the end of the month?) for $20.

Of course i didn't get much done since Sunday was my birthday.
Got up early and went Pheasant hunting @ a customers Ranch.

Of course we didn't get anything they were flushing way to early. But there is always this weekend.

It lives....!!!!!

Took it for a run around the lake today to see if i still had over heating problems.

Did OK. Ran the hills and what not with the AC on and revving the wee out of it.

Definitely need to gear it now.

Did find out if you use the LSD out of a Supra/Celica you are going to need to trim off a bit of the Stub axle on the passenger side.

Wondered why they didn't look right. Found out after it puked gear oil all over.

Fabbed up a test pipe to replace the stolen CAT. makes it sound a little more raspy but it'll live for now.

Yep didn't realize how easy it is. Took it off and painted it tonight, but now I really need to paint the chrome around the grill, it's not looking too hot.

reggie 00

Grill is pretty easy. I think i only broke two or three of those little tab things.

Just taped off the corner lights.

I did see a post where it was brought up that you could just use a 2wd grill as they were black. Pretty sure it was Chris (norcalsvx) up in Grass valley.

traben27

Well I ended up painting it anyway, it wasn't too hard at all. The grill was just a pain to take off because I couldn't get the stupid lights off on the front bumper.

Thanks for the tips...

Yeaaaah I was thinking about that with chrome. The black pearl emblems or whatever they are from the 3rd gens, those would look sweet.

Its semi-flat black rustoleum on the grill and the duplicolor bedliner stuff for the bumper. I love that stuff.

3/4 the way done doing the anti chrome campaign.

Front is all done.

Took the brush bar doohickey off the 83 and put it on to use as a mount for some 6" lights i got at the Christmas party. But i have to change the light mounting tabs to the front so the lights will fit. More to come on that.

rear is done.
