I dont know if this has been done before, but i need some new tires. i will run 265 75 16's but anyone who has one of these trucks as a daily driver with any size tire is welcome to post. i am trying to get a good idea of a tire that is good for 70% road use 30% off road... or whatever a daily driver with the weekend off roader would do. i have read the reviews on all these tires, now i just want to see who runs what...i think i know the answer but lets play anyway.

I voted for the BFG A/Ts. I run those on my 4Runner and it probably sees the percentages you mentioned. They have been great for me in everything but deep mud (which I avoid anyway) and I have put about 13K road miles on them with no problems (haven't even had to rebalance them). I now DD an 88 pickup though and it came with some "Sigma Stampede Radial A/T" tires on it and I have been pretty impressed with those as far as cheap tires go. It doesn't see anything offroad other than pulling down through the yard or driving across a field but they seem to do well. I still think the BFGs are worth the extra though. Here's the Stampedes if you're curious:

For pretty much all highway like me, Michelin LTX can't be beat.
If you're doing lots of weekend offroad trips I think you can pretty well cross them off your list though.

Havent run them but according to the people at tire rack the firestone destination is the highest ranked AT and MT series tires they have out right now.

I'll be in the market for new tires in the coming months. Right now, I'm running a set of El Dorado ZTR sports (Cooper ATR clones) in the 265/75 size. After talking with some other people at numerous forums, I'm strongly considering Mickey Thompson's Baja MTX in the 285/75 variety. People tell me that they're great on road and off and do especially well in snow and on ice. Plus, they look tough too. Here's a pic!

Cooper Discoverer STT's

Awesome both on and off road. My rig is also my DD, and I've been running these tires for over a year now. I've wheeled them in all kinds of terrains and conditions. On the highway, they've been through water, snow, ice - you name it.

Great Tires! (and they look good too)

Before I got these Cooper STT's, I was running Bridgestone Dueller M/T's (basically the exact same as BFG M/T's), and even though they were good on the trail, they SUCKED in the rain and snow!

I run REVO's. They are awesome on road and have yet to let me down offroad. The only place that i could see problematic would be mud. But i hate mud and try and stay away from it whenever possible. My next tire will be a M/T though. Probably the Cooper STT's.

you must wheel dry offroad terrain. up here in the northeast ive never seen a tire do worse than a revo offroad.

i run bfg's at. seems good on the highway, wears well, quiet on the road, seemed fine in the very small amount of rain we got.

I have BFG AT's on my Heep, but when the 4Runner gets back on the road, it will be Cooper STT's. Lee - how do those do for us East Coast guys (ie mud, rocks, roots, etc.)

EDIT: Jamie - IL wheeling is like PA for the most part. Glad to hear those tires are working out.

Doesn't Cooper make the MT MTZ also?

I run MasterCraft Courser MT's. Not bad for the price but definately not a good street tire. Do pretty well in the mud too. From my experiences better than BFG MT's

Check out Dayton Timberline A/T's. My buddy owns a tire shop and he recommended them to me. they only cost me $500 tax in!!! they are a very quiet highway tire (I drive about 40 000 kilometers a year) probably 99% highway 1% offroad :( and this is my only DD. In a big size (mine are 33X12.50) they bite the mud real well.
