Just thought I share my new mods with you guys.

Purchased a brand new URD Crankpulley from a member of another forum  for a whopping $210
Here it is installed just this morning which took about an hour.

So far its running pretty good....it just runs and idles smooth. Just find it hard to ease off the gas pedal now :D. Throttle response has improved a lot, picking up speed from a dead stop with ECT button on is a blast. I only got to drive it for 35 miles today...we'll see if anything comes up later on.

Next mod was the custom sway bar endlinks. Mines broke shortly after installing the PP springs and Bilstein shocks. It just snapped off while exiting a parking garage, had to limp it home for repairs. It was just sloppy on the freeway with slow steering response. I read through all the post and everyone recommended WabFab disconnects and seeing as I don't offroad much at all, I thought I make my own.

Last was the JDM FMU (Field Monitor Unit) purchased off of ebay for $115 without a temp sensor. It came in grey and I had to paint it to match. I can thank Bob for his detailed write up about removing the mirror (99 Roof Console Mod) and RockSlide for the wiring. On with the pics

Meant to tell you, nice work on custom endlinks. Suprised the oem ones just broke off like they did...

And I'm sure I'd get myself in trouble with all that exta speed you got going :D

So far its good....entered the freeway and got up 70mph in no time on the way to work...the gas pedal is just lighter now. As for it being worth it, it is to me because I only paid $210 for it and had it installed for free. The origianl price is at $289 now....I was looking at it before and the price threw me away as I had to pay tax on it too.

Ok fine so I feel like being a party pooper...

While the URD crank pulley looks very cool, and probably helps some in throttle response, I very much doubt it helps you when accelerating to 70mph on the highway.

I did an engineering examination of the weight savings gained by the pulley when it first came out and basically found that it's savings are negligible unless your engine is a race-prepped fire-breathing monster.

The horsepower gains are seen in less rotating mass, but only when you ENGINE is accelerating. The faster it is accelerating (I.E. RPM/s) the more gains you will see. So when you're accelerating at 3000rpm/s (realistic speed of a 5VZ revving, while the truck is being accelerated), You gain 3hp for a small instant, but that peak gain quickly falls off as you get into higher gears and slower engine revs. To gain 10 hp, you would have to be doing 5500 rpm/s (sounds more like a Supra than a 4Runner to me). I doubt gains from the pulley would even show up as a blip on the dyno, because you don't dyno your truck in 1st gear and that's the only place any gains MIGHT show up.

If you're going to buy the URD Crank Pulley, don't do it because it'll make your truck faster (because it won't). Do it because it's purty and people like us can't leave well enough alone. My 0.02.

EDIT: P.S. I like your swaybar end-links.

Yup, I started noticing that lately....entering the freeway and running up 70mph is quick, its just that once you hit around 75+ in final gear while running against a slight incline your gonna have to punch the gas a little more. I'm guessing thats when the 10 lbs of rotational force comes into play.
