Lookin' good so far. Seeing you standing next to your rig actually puts into perspective how big the rig actually is.. I'm ashame to say I've only been next to stock 3rd gens. And only a handful of lifted Tacomas.

yea and im roughly six feet, i scraped a 7 foot sign in a parking lot the other day with my rack, and the truck itself is about 76 inchs.

my tripod is taller then me so it looked down on me

What did mom and dad say when they saw you drilling holes in your fender?

Should've told them you were trying to get the hood open or something :flipoff:

this hole saw has pissed me off for the last time, the stupid saw got 80% through until the bit started spinning again inside it. i have a freakin 3/4 moon shape in my fender, and no snorkel, gone to the store, im about to raise cane.

I'm giving Lee a hard time, he should know better than ask for pics of the engine compartment...... considering none of the snorkel components go in there.

just didnt seem that way.

btw i just found a crack in the taco sleeve i got from a junkyard, so i gotta reconnect everything later on. its a pita to get the hose in there though.

yeah, it does, via an OEM tacoma air inlet tube that's hidden behind the fender. it connects to the elbow on the stock air box on one end and to the snorkel on the other. under the hood, you can't see a difference since everything is routed between the fender outer skin and the internal skeleton of the engine compartment.

Lee this should help the confusion

http://www.expeditionswest.com/equipment/tacoma/snorkel/safari_snorkel_drawing.jpg

the tube that is black dotted line is the taco air sleeve which mine is cracked, the L shaped tube in front of it is a thick rubber hose that comes with the snorkel and attaches to the sleeve, then the sleeve hits the elbow.

Dang Blake that looks good! Any tips on the install? I did one on my last truck and toyed with the idea on this one. What will you be doing for waterproofing the rest of the motor/ Vehicle?

Looks good. I would be more worried about drilling next to the windshield then through the fender. Bolt on body parts are easy to replace. Rust on the main body is usually the beginning of the end for a vehicle (out here anyways).

Just because you seem to enjoy being teased: Why worry about water crossings when your vehicle is called dezert runna :D
