So I was trying to do a c.b. install in my 90 4runner to day and make it look clean got a couple pics. Now here's the problem I have a Galaxy dx99v yea I know very high dollar but I have used this radio for 9-10 years in my peterbilt so I thought why not in the runner since I don't drive anymore.

The dimensions of this radio are 10 1/2 long 7 3/4 wide 2 high. I bought a used radio trim piece to install this thing in so it looked factory. It took me a hour or so to trim it to fit the radio with whizz wheel and a knife for final trimming. Made it fit so nice a tight and still had the room to fit my Rockford Fosgate single din am/fm cd/mp3 player.

Well now on to the install part. First I had to do some metal trimming of the area for the c.b. to fit into again time for the whizz wheel. After doing the trimming to fit the c.b. in place I started to put everything back in place and big problem. The end of the c.b. heat-sinks hit up against the white bottle in the back of the firewall. Does anyone know what that is??? Can I remove it or not??? Is it a necessary part of anything and if removed how much space will be gained???

If anyone has any other ideas where I can install this radio and have it be functional please feel free to speak up. I want to keep it clean and since I have a sunroof the roof mount is pretty much out of the question. I also tried to install it below the radio and pretty much the same issue not enough room. I tryed off the side of the gearshift console and used a 1x1 but it would not allow for putting 4 wd shifter to go into 4 low. Any other ideas guys and girls maybe pics of your set ups to help me figure out a good placement site.

THANKS ALL

That CB is huge. I have my Radio Shack one on the passenger side of the center console. With the seat moved up all the way, it just about hit it.
I've also seen some on top of the dash...you can probably built something to cover it up a bit.
