yes, the touareg is a decent off pavement vehicle, but so is my mom's crv. thats not the point. point is that he thinks the egg is an awesome offroad vehicle, and it just isnt. but who cares. honestly, who wheels a touareg anyway? it belongs on the highway with the LR3's and the H2's

lol. i know you do, and im not. im saying it was designed to be an onroad vehicle. not something to go exploring with. sure it may be able to take trails, but it was never designed for that purpose.

i happen to love the Touareg. i want one bad!! i think its a spectacular vehicle, that as is very capable everywhere, just not ever meant to be an offroad vehicle.

it is like the h2 in the sense that its not great offroad. thats where the similarities end for that. the touareg is far superior in every way, maybe even in offroad ability.

They definitely put some though into it being an offroad vehicle. I think they were going after the Land Rover. The LR3 is a pretty capable rig. 10.75" suspension travel up front and 13" in rear. Thats really damn good. More front travel than i have on the 4Runner and almost as much in rear. I dont know what the specs are on the Touareg but it differs whether or not it has air suspension. My Touareg only has the steel suspension and its travel is probably around 4" on all 4 corners. I just did some reading and reportedly the air suspension only has 5.5" of travel. Its not the typical city SUV either. I mean it has a selectable low range and a locking center diff. It is also an option to have a rear locker. It really is quite a rig for a luxury SUV. The steel suspension has 9.8" of clearance and the air has 11.8" of clearance. Steel can ford up to 19.8" of water and the steel up to 22.8" of water. Not bad for a city rig. I just thought it was funny how i simply said that "MY 4Runner put MY Touareg to shame in the offroad department." Not a comparison of each vehicle in stock form, but rather MY personal vehicles. Hell, i hope a Stock 75k dollar V10 TDI Air Suspension locked VW Touareg would outperform a stock 40k dollar V8 non locked 4Runner. Haha. Some people take things way to personally.

I like the Touareg.
But as a DD driver.
For Off-road purposes such as rock crawling...not so much.

I still think that Toyota is the only company to make SUV from the factory trail ready.

Almost every other auto makers (mostly american cause Landrover is the same way) requires some kind of off-road package.

I have much more I would like to say but will keep my mouth shut.

Touregs are nice and can be hella powerfull with engine options but the horse is dead in that it is not a trail blaster. Heck for that mater I don't consider a stock 4runner a trail machine by any means. Nor should it be. Not designed to be. Same with the toureg.

Now some dumb ass started a "My Rav4 kills the Touareg" thread. Man they really got me there. :roll: Its definitely not a VW thing rather a "I have a 55k dollar VW" thing. Pretty damn lame. Maybe i should start another thread over there about how the Land Rover is much more capable than the Touareg. Haha. I can even post a link i found of a 75k dollar Range Rover doing John Bull.
