Has anyone done a tranny cooler install for a 3rd Gen 4Runner or know of a good writeup that can walk me through it? I'm in the process of buying a 3rd Gen '01-'02 and will definitely be installing one. thanks.

Search on here and YotaTech and you'll find some writeups. You should find some on TTORA as well, same idea for Tacomas and 4Runners.

I believe the popular model is the Hayden 678.

A friend and I knocked that out on my truck a few months ago. It was fairly straight-forward and quick. Have fun.

i was thinking more along the lines of placement. i got the jist of the install, but would like to know a good place to mount it,oh and which would be the return line to the tranny

im doing this soon too :) i got the 678 a few months ago havent had the chance to throw it in yet :)

Just did the tranny cooler install about a month ago. Make sure to get some extra hose, probably 4 ft. Longest part of the install was placing the cooler. I installed the Hayden 678.

They are the same thing.

678 => old part number
1678 => new part number

i paid 49 shipped off ebay if IIRC

the box said "65.99" on it.
