I'm trying really hard to convince Lisa to let me get them. Offroad lights designed a conversion kit specifically for the Lightforce 140, 170, and 240. It's pricey, but at least you get a pair instead of just one.

I know it's a lot, but for that same price, you'd be only getting 1 if you got Lightforce HID's. I've got to figure out how the guy in the first post did it. I think I'm going to get the 170's and see how I can modify it. Once I figure it out, I'll sell it to you for only $700. :tongueout:

bruce (bruceTS) has a buddy selling three Hella 4000's (HID) for 1600 or so. that may be another alternative btw. Still $$ though.

Also I've seen a few 4000 HID conversions and they're pretty slick :) I am partial to Lightforce though cuz it was nice on my 4runner! hehe

I'll let you do all of the monkey business and then just take em off your 80 :D

David,

At June Lake, you said that you found a link where a guy was selling the HID installation write up for $10 bucks right? Was it this link? http://hid.isclever.com/

In any case, if you plan to buy the 240 xgt and want to experiment, I've got two busted 240 xgt's we can take apart and see what the internals look like :) save $10 :D

Never understood how some people can try to make $$ off of a write up.. lame.

Hehe, i've got the 240 HID conversions!

They are brighter than you can ever imagine!

When I get the time, I'm going to do a writeup and post it here.

oly i think i'm gonna have to do a field test on your hid's so if you can kindly pack them and ship them to me i'll gladly confirm that :D

can't wait for the write up man :D btw i hope it's for the 240 xgt's cuz that's what I want to get again.

all i gotta say is that, unless you are doing some serious night driving on a fairly regular basis, man, i just cannot fathom burning your $$$ on something like this. i know oly goes out alot on expeditions, so i can see why he plunked down the cash on the conversion.

Lance, they are for the 240's (non-xgt's) but if you talk to off-roadlights.com he might be able to help you, he's a good guy.

Bob, you're spot on with the $$$ issue. It's a lot of cash to drop on lights, but as far as I'm concerned, they are WELL worth it. The spot beams go for well over a mile of easy visibility (assuming the air is clean enough!) The light output is really unreal. I can't even describe it with words. My old truck I had the whole set up 2-130 watt procomp's, 2-55 watt piaa's, and 100/150 watt h4 headlight bulbs, and those didn't even get close to these 2-35 watt HID's. Like I said, it's unreal.
