Did a little family wheeling trip yesterday. Did two trails. First we did Movie Road/Alabama Hills which is just outside of Lone Pine, CA. A lot of old western movies have been shot out in this area. Pretty cool rock formations. On our way out we drove up to Mt. Whitney. (As far as you can drive, that is.) Easy overall, well graded roads with good upkeep. I did go off the beaten path though and had a moderate hill climb that was rutted out and caused a couple wheels to float at times. It did struggle a bit but did make it.

After that we headed up to Bishop. Got some Veggie sandwiches at Schat's and hung out at the park. (Those who know what Schat's is will appreciate that.) Just outside of Bishop there is the Silver/Wyman Canyon trail. Trail climbs some rocky, super steep switch backs up the mountain into the ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. Goes from 4000ft at the valley floor to just over 11000ft. Used Low range a lot with the center diff. locked. No problems though. Trail was just under 30 miles long. We took some side trips though and probably totaled 50 miles all together. Got off the trail right at dusk. Trail comes out just 11 miles from the Nevada border. All together the trail had 28 water crossings. Not that deep though, they ranged from 6-12" deep. Was a really nice trial though, I would definitely recommend it. Headed out and finished the day off with Pizza at the Pizza Factory in Lone Pine. Good day for sure.

While taking some pics i noticed a low tire. Checked it out and heard a big leak. Good thing i brought my ARB tire plug kit. Plugged it up and was good to go.

Also wanted to say, I have had the 20's on the Touareg for quite a while and damn do i like having the REVO's back on. Truck just looks much more rugged now. Put them back on for these trails and for the upcoming winter. Yeah winters a ways off but hopefully by me embracing it early it will come on strong and early and we will have a gnarley winter. I think i am even going to go as far as saying i almost like the REVO's better. Dont get me wrong, the Touareg looks sick with the 20's but theres just something about the Gunmetal stockers with the REVO's. Right On.

 Very nice pics! Thanks for sharing. I think I just figured out where I want to go for my birthday. What is there in the way of camping going up the Silver Canyon trail?

Thanks. I do what i can. Hardly any photoshop either, just minor contrast and color adjustments. Camera is an older Canon Rebel 300d dlsr. Just the crappy 18-55 lens also. Been wanting to upgrade both body and lens's but have been spending my money elsewhere. I am happy with it for now though, it still does a good job.

Ya know it. VW offroad for life! Haha. I have to say though, the Touareg is a lot mone comfy offroad than the 4Runner. Wheeling luxury style. Haha. Nah, it does pretty damn well on trails like this. Trails that dont test articulation that is.

Tattoos- Thanks. The upper right arm is being worked on/finished currently. The forearm is another story. It has actually turned into a cover up and needs a bit more work. Damn cover ups. Left arm is completely sleeved. A lot of other stuff is done also. Working on a body suit.

John Bull is next weekend. Haha. And your right, not all wheeling is boulder style. Expedition style this time. It was an awesome time.

Thanks. It is a beautiful place and i definitely recommend it. As for camping, i dont know. Didnt see anything off the trails. You could make a 2 or 3 day trip out of it though and camp up at Coyote Flats which is on the other side of Bishop. Spend a few day exploring around, would be good times for sure.
