Tough to say, search for "burping cooling System' and you can try that. Are you having overheting issues?

you could just try burping it.

just take the rad cap off and (with the rad and reservoir full) run the engine till you see air bubble up and the coolant level drop. then refill and cap.

just watch the temp level as you do this in case.

no overheating. kind of double checking myself from 20k miles ago when i drained the coolant (red yota) out of the radiator and filled it back in with prestone 50-50 any make any color coolant.. i cant remember if i let it warm up properly when leaving the cap off to "burp" the system.. no overheating at all but is that the only symptom of airpockets in the cooling system?

I beleive it is one of the main, and not a lot of harm in air pockets if your not overheating, I dont suppose....

You'd know right away if you had an air pocket in the cooling system and from what I've seen it's pretty hard to get one on these 5VZ-FE motors (other makes/models are a different story). If you've already gone 20k miles with no issues, I can guarantee with 100% certainty you don't have any air pockets in your cooling system.

overheating, basically. having air in the system means you dont have as much coolant as the system needs to operate properly, thats all. :)

but like jamie said, its pretty rare to have so much air in our truck's system.
