Man i miss being in the Navy some days.

Found this searching for something.

I worked on CIWS, came up on Blk 0 , but finished off rebuilding both Blk 0 & 1 guns

I tied so hard to get on the 25 MM crew, my Chief wouldn't let me. :flipoff: For one i was the Work Sup for my shop, for two he told me i would have tom much fun :D.

If we would have had a mini i definitely would have been on that crew, i would have made him :chair:.

More.

Don't have a slack jaw when it goes off, it hurts when you bite your tongue. Oh and have a mask, you wouldn't believe the residue that floats your way.

Fun to shoot, a pain after.

Those 5" powder cases when they hit the deck they leave "Smiley Faces" of course you usually aren't smiling when your out there repairing the deck afterwards.

They are set up a little different than my mounts. I use to be able to get in front and look up at the gun when it was firing. :screwy:

Man i miss this gun.

For those that dont know.

When its still it searching,
Moves and follows tracking,
Basically tracks when it gets real close,
Fires when its really close, While firing it is tracking both the target and the ROUNDS to correct the aim.

Those bursts are probably in the 150-200 rd range.
My old gun would do 3000/min the newer ones where hitting closer to 4500/min.

Ya but the fun has a price.....

For me it was like 4-5hrs of maintenance and magazine work.

It was a lot worse for the 5" guys.

Use to love watching the newbie Divo jump when i dumped a 100 rnd box of 20mm on the deck to count it. For some reason they just didn't understand it was not a percussion round, huh FNG's

And do you know what else was cool it was a regular maintenance check so we had to do it.
