I need to get more range out of my truck... so the quest continues on finding an auxiliary fuel tank.

There are not too many options out there...
1.) There is the http://www.downeyoff-road.com/BodyComponents/AuxiliaryTanks.html"]Downey (http://", that is actually http://www.nwmp.com/viewOptions.asp"]Northwest (http://"2000 (http://" and fuel cells (like BajaTaco)

Ok, now, option 1... is not enough fuel adding only 15 gallons is not worth the time nor the money. Option 2 seems a bit awkward and might be rather difficult.

So there is option 3. http://www.thelongranger.com.au/"]The (http://"[url) Long Ranger (ARB) but the Hilux model will not fit because the tank is on the Right hand side... My question is would a http://www.thelongranger.com.au/4runnerlongrangefueltank.html"]Toyota (http://"[url) 4Runner 1989-1996 tank fit the Tacoma?

Any other options out there?

This isn't really for your truck but Man A Fre is releasing an aux tank for the FJ. Check the link out and this might be another alternative option.

not sure if it'll fit between the width of your frame but you never know.

Thanks... Looks like it hangs down too far to fit my truck though...

try pming anthony1 as he moved his tank between the frame rails on his 2nd gen. i'm thinking that would work since i believe he didn't cut his tank rather just move it to the back.

I dont get it...are you saying see if that could work and then just run a transfer pump between the two tanks?

What about the Ford Econoline Van tank between the frame rails?

This is what I'm thinking about if I can't find a tank from another Toyota that will work (I'm replacing mine though, not supplementing.

anthony didn't like the location of is 2nd gen tank so he moved it to the back between the frame rails. i don't recall if he did cut the tank but i believe all he did was lengthen the lines to the back. so i'm guessing you should be able to get a 2nd gen tank and then add a pump to transfer to the primary. of course this applies if this is the configuration you want.

if you want to have a completely separate 2nd tank to run off of, you'd have to do some rather interesting fuel line mods (not sure how though).

hey mike, can you measure your tank and see if it will fit across the frame? if so then i'm sure this will work for ya too :)

There was a writeup on 4x4wire eons ago about doing this with a stock 2nd Gen tank. It fits, but it hung down quite a bit though - stock 4Runner tank is something like 14" deep.

EDIT: Here it is: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/gas_tank/
