View Full Version : It's Calendar time! UltimateYota's 1st annual Calendar

Robinhood4x4

Folks, it's that time of the year again! Time to submit your pictures to be immortalized in print. This will be the 4th year that this team has put together a calendar so we're going to try something a little different this year. But that's all we're going to say, the rest is a secret until the calendar is unveiled.

So post up pics of your trucks off the pavement. There's nothing in particular we are looking for so sky's the limit. How we're going to choose the winners hasn't been decided yet but it will probably be a combination of staff votes and member votes.

We're in talks with professional printers and don't yet know the formatting requirements. However, most likely you can use the guidelines below. I'll edit this thread when we learn more.

1. Post your pictures here. For display in this thread, please reduce the size to 800x600 or smaller. Any pictures larger than this will be deleted. Basically, I don't want to scroll right to see the whole pic.
2. Final pictures must be at least 1600x1200 pixels in size (2 mega pixels). Ideally 3300x2550, 300dpi is best (8 mega pixels). Pictures smaller than this may be considered, however, we're not sure what the printer will require. So make sure you have high resolution pictures available.
3. Limit of 5 truck submissions per person.
4. Deadline for submission: Midnight PST 10-31-07

First off, these are bigger than the 800x600 you wanted but i was feeling lazy and didnt want to resize and re upload. Dont worry about scrolling over, only a tiny portion of the pic is not seen and its not important. Everything that needs to be seen, is.

Second, dont know how you feel about my windshield sticker.

Third, dont know what you think about the watermark. (it can be removed along with the hi res version if chosen.)

Fourth, you probably wont pick any of my pics so none of the previous points will matter. Haha.

Hmmm...you know what...portrait might actually work for our surprise. I'm going to change the requirement. Portrait is OK.

Maybe, we haven't discussed that possibility. Post only a link if it's a bikini and put a warning on it.

i think the pictures need to be 1600x1200 to be in the calender and the higher the res the better since it cleans the jaggies out once its compressed

Is it too much to ask for you guys to give us regular updates, and explanations until these ship. You guys have our money, and so far all we have is 2 promised & missed shipping dates with no real reason or details on the situation. If you look at this thread, you guys haven't given any updates unless someone asked for it.

It's starting to look like you guys are being a little evasive. If the calendars are going to be late - Fine. Take some accountability and let us know what's going on.

Sorry for the delays on the update.

We had some technical difficulties at the print vendor on the production side which was beyond our control. The calendars have been completed and shipped to my office. I am expecting to receive them today or Monday. It will go out the same day as I already have the packaging and labeling all ready to go. Just need to stuff them and send them out.

Again, sorry for the delays.

Sorry Jamie, my fault. This has traditionally been my project and I should have kept up with the updates. We'll make it smoother this year. In the meantime, take lots of pictures because we'll be asking for them a month earlier.

Calendars look top notch.

My only suggestion for next year is use a thicker stock as the paper is too thin and flimsy compared to the numerous other calendars I get/got.

...and my WabFab logo got axed. :flipoff:

Just got mine - they turned out nice!

I'm not understanding the beef about the paper weight - it might be a few pounds light, but once it's hanging on the wall, who's comparing paper weights? IMO, that's the least important factor.

Content is king - and in the case of these calendars - they are the benchmark. The artwork is beyond excellent. Everyone else might as well quit now, these can't be touched.

With that said, there is always room for improvement:

Hanger Hole: printer blunder - gotta have a hole to hang it.
No Holidays: that's one of the reasons to get a paper calendar - gotta have the standard observed holidays on there.

Other than those couple of annoyances, I think they are awesome. Besides, we need something that can improve for next year - the artwork certainly doesn't need any improvement.

xonetruthcrewx
01-12-2008, 04:51 PM
A hole to hang it by, heavier weight paper, and maybe wire bound. Then it would be perfect. Aside from those few little things, it is perfect. I am proud to have August as my month in the calendar. Right On.

BruceTS
01-12-2008, 06:06 PM
Ok for next year, Heavier weight COVER, the rest can stay of a lighter weight, add a hole to hang by and yes have the holidays.....

Yes, it is a great calendand looks awesome. I like it a lot, even if I am in it. :flipoff:

Seriously, the light weight paper IS an issue as mine ripped right off the wall the first day when it got bumped. I really don't see a thicker stock breaking the bank on cost.

I have at least 15 calendars at the shop from various vendors, forums, companies etc and this one is the ONLY one that is paper thin stock.

:guitar:

04 Rocko Taco
01-17-2008, 05:38 AM
mine hangs on a bent paper clip on the wall, it did begin to tear a bit... but I just took clear scotch tape, and doubled it over above the holes, and now, voila, no ripping. :)
