Newbie question about wheels tundra wheels and older 4runners

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but just wanted to make sure. Plus it's just that much more data for people searching here in the future.

Will 16" Tundra wheels fit on a 1st gen 4runner?

What year 1st Gen? I *think* they will fit 86-89, but not 84/85 due to steering arm interference. Although, 16's might be OK - my knowledge is based on 15's.

IFS 4runner, I think it's an 89...my brother's.

I'm not sure about the Tundra wheels, but 16" Tacoma wheels WILL NOT fit on 1st gen runners. The backspacing is wrong and will contact the steering arms. Ask me how I know. :)

Huh, interesting. So if anything a small spacer might be needed.

I had to cut up a small spacer I had to try to get it on there. It wouldn't fit around the hub body, so I cut it up to fit, and space the wheel out, it almost made it, I think it is only like a 1/4" spacer or something. I think you would need almost a 1/2 or more. For which you would need longer wheel studs, too.

Wait, did you try it on your 84 solid axle or somebody else's IFS?
