My steering scares me and I want to upgrade it to something better. What is available? What have other people had success with? I would go with the Total Chaos idler and heims but really can't spend that kind of money. So, I was thinking an idler arm brace and trying to upgrade the adjusters and TREs and maybe the centerlink if it's necessary. Help? Any suggestions and discussion is appreciated!

Good luck..

Worthwhile steering upgrades seem to be waaay pricey.

You may want to try an OME (Old Man Emu) steering stabilizer. I've heard very good things about them, and they are pretty cheap ($50). I'm about to get one myself. :D

If you want to stay cheap, you'll have to build it yourself.

I'll have a write up soon. It will be interesting.

That's what I was thinking.. Maybe figure out if I can do a hybrid setup with the FJ80 TREs. Also, some company (Marlin or Allpro I think) had custom length DOM adjusters.. I just have to research it. Ike, I'll be anticipating how your setup turns out.

FWIW, the Total Chaos unit is worth it's weight in gold  I have one on my '92 4Runner and love it.
