I know that the 99 4x4 sat at least 1 full inch higher than all the other 3rd gens. Am I correct in thinking that an advertised coil lift of 3" such as the SS#1.1 or Toytec/OME will only give me maybe 2" of lift due to the extra inch over other 3rd gens?

Yes, that is usually true, but it depends on the manufacturer and marketing of the products. The best way to tell is to look at the fender to ground measurements from someone using the same setup you're looking at. You can always adjust for tire diamater as well and then translate it to what you have currently (ie if you have a higher stock height on your 99 it should currently be sitting about 36" from fender to ground with stock 265/70R16 tires).

Not positive but I believe.....
the Toytec is 3" based on the lowest 01-02 stock height.
the SS #1.1 should be a little higher and based on the 96-98 or 00 stock height.

to build on what jamie is talking about:

look at the lift as the destination instead of the trip. you want to fit 32's therefore you get "X" lift kind-of-approach. this has all been done 1000 times over, so there's nothing new to be honest. if one person can fit 33's w/ 3" of overall "lift" using XYZ springs, then you can fit 33's using XYZ springs too since you have the same truck even though the starting reference point of the lift may be different from one truck to another due to the year, condition of the current springs, additional weight considerations, etc...
