I need an organized place to store my tools and was considering buying a Craftsman rolling tool box. You can spend upwards of $400 for a 26" wide rolling chest. Then I saw this at Costco, the Platinum Pro Storage system. Anyone buy this yet? Costco's price is a little less than one-half of the street price and it includes free shipping to your door:

wow, 5 peices for $499, thats aint bad....
Course I would still rather have my roll around for my 'mechanic tools' I have a workshop set up like that for woodworking and misc tools. But you can't beat my roll around for wrenchin tools. Check into Kobalt boxes, they are sold at Lowes, made by snap on, and have a lifetime garuntee.

Made by O'Sullivan = RTA crap. It is likely particle board and not meant for any sort of reasonable use. Not feeling the love for particle board cabinets in the garage...
I believe both Costco and Sams Club have nice Stainless Rollaway cabinets.
I didn't realize Snap On made Kobalt boxes. That's a sweet deal.

Kobalt tools are also made by Snap On. :) They arent as heavy duty (the boxes) I can jump up and sit all of my 250 pounds on the top little drawer of the snap on box with no issues, but I wouldnt try it with my Kobalt box. lol.

There is some speculation on the internet that Snap-on used to have a partnership with Kobalt but that dissolved some years ago. Regardless, they're worth checking out. I'll stay away from the Costco setup, thanks.
Sears has a sale on the Craftsman stuff right now. The 26" wide rolling chest (the bottom part) is $249, the intermediate chest is free (normally about $129) and the upper is $149. That's for the ball bearing drawers. ($400 total.) Subtract $70 if you go with the quiet-glide instead of ballbearing and the cheapest setup is $200 total for everything with the regular slides. Are the ball bearing drawers worth double the price?

I'd bet the costco one is fine for normal people but for people who abuse things or work in a shop it'll fall apart. Based on how clean and organized you are Ken, I'd bet it would work for you. I don't see you as the type to abuse things. Shoot, you'd probably armorall the cabinets every day!
Costco stuff is usually pretty decent and if you want to step up to the next level you'd be looking at thousands of dollars. In short, I don't think you'll find anything of significantly higher quality for the same price. You're best bet would be to build it yourself...cheaper too.
I do like the costco stainless steel roll aways for $700. My room mate got one when they first came out years ago. In our local costco they now have a stainless steel workbench which has drawers (I think). The counter top is pretty thick laminated wood, kinda like a big butcher's block.

Nah, 303 UV protectant is my weapon of choice. :tongueout:
I did see the stainless rollaway on Costco's website yesterday but it is not there today. The more I think about it the more a rollaway tool cabinet makes sense.

I love my roll away, still. And if you need to build a workbench , let me recomend a cheap way, I have an old solid core wooden door, laid on its side, on top of 4X4 legs. We have three of these work benches in our shop, and they are fantastic. lol. Can usually be had fairly cheap also...
