LOL... If you care to make the drive, Rocko, I'll cook some up for you, assuming the CWD testing comes back negative.
BWJ, got him up by Guanella Pass here in CO. 6:45 am, roughly 300 yards with a 3-9 power Leupold mounted on a Remingon model 700 30-06. Winchester Super-X Hollowpoint.
Calrockx, not really like chicken. Elk has its own unique taste, doesn't really compare to anything else I've had.

Sounds like a well placed shot!! Were you the shooter?? What's the CWD test? I also have never eaten Elk. Sounds interesting. TJ

Nice base camp you got there.
I'm heading out this weekend (hopefully) for elk. I'd like to get one before the season ends, but I'm not holding my breath.

oly884- if you kept the rear hams off that deer you should try this. Soak it in salt water for a day or so to get the game taste out of it. Cut a place for a clove of garlic and cover it in Tony's seasoning. Wrap it in foil ans slow cook it on the grill. After a while the meat will fall off the bone and its great.
