I just recently parted with my Bushmaster, I got it for a really good price, and was offered a way better price on it. So now I've got some money in the bank, but that will probably sit there for a while until I can justify spending some good money on another.

Nice rifle. I'll be going with a complete Noveske in the next few months

tom,

if you are not sure, just buy the lower first. get a quality lower. ar-15s are modular to the point where you can get different uppers and barrels at a later date. i am always kicking myself for not buying a lower in 99 befoer they banned semi-capable lowers here in feinsteinistan

I really like the looks of the LAR-10 Varmint A4. I like the thought of a long-range rifle, and the 7.62x51mm (a.k.a. .308 caliber) round is a powerful beast. Put a nice scope and bi-pod on that gun and you've got a heck of a long-range shooter.

I need to save up, Steve's right about needing to buy before the next election...

My deposit is in...

Yeah, a .308 is next on the list. Ironically, my neighbor was in the advanced ccw class I took recently. We ended up carpooling the 2nd night and stopped at Wendys on the way back. He was talking about the .308 he has on order. We were eating on the front porch and the conversation went something like this:

Jesse: See that ridge line? (about a mile away)
Me: Yep.
Jesse: Do you realize that if there was a sniper up on that ridge, we would see the flash, the get hit, then hear the shot?
Me: Whoa. Yeah, I guess I never thought about that...

That's one of those things you never realize until you are on the receiving end of it.

Nope, no guns for me. I miss playing with them when I was in the service. I really miss my big guns. I would love to have one but alas I live in Kalifornistan. Also, I could use the $$$ elsewhere.

I bet I could still rip one down and put it back together pretty dam fast.

Yep pre-ban, but even so you never know when the laws will change again, so I'll be installing the 10 round fixed mag mod, to be on the cautious side.

Well, I might be giving this one up. Some unexpected expenses have cropped up with the kids - ear tubes, blocked tear ducts, etc - for both - so I'm giving serious thought to returning, or even selling privately if anyone's interested. Haven't even had a chance to shoot the damn thing yet. Oh well.

That's a bummer Tom!
The fact that you haven't shot it yet should get your more resale bucks though.

Yeah, priorities have definitely shifted...Its alright though, money is better spent on the kids. And to be honest, I've felt a little guilty about buying such an expensive toy anyway.

My little guy just had his tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes put in about 8 months ago and it made a HUGE difference (he used to be sick for weeks with a common cold, now it might last 2 days at that). Hopefully you've got good health insurance Tom, but you're right.....kids always come first. There's always more toys to buy later and I'm sure you'll find more than a few people wanting to take that virgin firearm off your hands. :D

How much?

And would you be willing to sell the EOtech?

TDiddy
07-12-2007, 07:48 PM
Hey David,

The dealer actually took it back, minus a small restocking fee. Can't complain, it was likely a better deal then trying to sell it on my own.
