Hey, can one of you Tacoma guys chime in here for my co-worker? I don't know squat about Taco front end setups. He writes:
I've got an'01 Tacoma 4X4 TRD X-cab with a 4" Pro Comp lift. Came with new struts (i think he means shocks). I just replaced the struts because the frount was feeling super soft...now it feels even softer. Is it the springs??? Or do I need to go with some different type of suspension in the front (i.e. aftermarket coil over kit, adjustable strut, etc).
Thanks,
Bob

well if money is no object, of course go with coilovers... lol.
Other than that, if all he changed was shocks, and it got softer, the obvious answer is a stiffer shock, har do trecomend one though without knowing what he was running, he probably needs some HD Billies....

Also -it a long shot, but check the sway bar end links. When I had mine off, my taco felt pretty soft in the front end, it sort of floated everywhere... Make sure the endlinks are in good shape.

I think we might need a bit of clarification on what he means by softer.
Too much body roll taking turns? too much bounce over bumps? floats on the highway? not high enough?

With that kit it offers different shock selections and he probably got too soft a shock option.

Never knew 4" lifts were available. Ask you co-worker what new shocks he got and what were the old ones he replaced.

my co-worker responded:
Yeah....too much bounce on the highway....kinda floating like a car with no shocks at all.
The old struts were ES3000....the new ones were off the shelf Monroe's.....sounds like I just bought the wrong struts.

Ok, i think there's the answer right there. any recommendations for a shock that is valved a little tighter than ES3000s and Monroes?

thinking of a stupid idea, are their any OME shocks for the front from another IFS truck that would be long enough?
