Went to Calico this weekend for their annual Ghost Haunt. Caitlynne and I got up there around 6:30pm on Friday. My next door neighbors, Brian and Rhianna showed up around 7 with their 2 kids. We hung out around the campfire for a bit then decided to go out on a night run. I drove the pick up and let Brian and his family drive in the 4Runner. We drove around on some of the easier trails because we had a pretty large group of motorcycles with us. Brian and his family had a great time. By the time we got back, Brian was asking where he could get his own Toyota! :D

The next morning Justin arrived and we went out on a run with another member from our off road club. We did the Doran loop, which consists of Odessa Canyon and Bismark Canyon. These are the 2 most difficult trails in the Calico area. Had an awesome time...OK here's what you've been waiting for

The pictures don't do it justice, but this was an extremely steep hill. Justin attempted it, but had trouble getting traction at the top with out a front locker. Besides, he had Caity in the truck with him. Gary tries it and makes it! That section at the top is about 4 feet of near vertical to a 6 ft wide ledge with a canyon wall on the other side. It was intense watching him climb that hill. I wish I would have gotten some pictures of him doing it. The alternate to this hill was no easy task either. The ledge was barely wider than our truck. A spotter is mandatory to keep from slipping off the edge.

Yeah...about that...we didn't even go to any of the children's events. Most of the group we went with were being a bunch of wimps and left early because of the wind. We did our day run, came back in time for dinner at the restaurant and then went to bed. In the morning we got to sleep in (had the motorhome to ourselves), have breakfast, dump the tanks and head out. We had church on Sunday night and we didn't want to miss. We still had a lot of fun even though we didn't do any of the events.

No problem, Sean. You woulda had a blast out there. We will definitely be at Last Chance. Still trying to decide if we're bringing one or both trucks.

Chris, we love the new truck. It's cool cause it's so much different from the 4Runner. You don't really need to worry about choosing a line - just point it and go!
