I have somehow misplaced my owner's manual. I was reading on this website:
http://www.4runners.org/writeups/zerk/index.html
And it says that pre-2000 4Runners called for two different greases, but for 2000+, it was one. My question is, what type of grease do I need to get?
I plan to do this this weekend, along with the poly sway bar bushings, and if I feel inclined, the steering rack bushings, too.
Thanks for any help.

Lithium base chassis grease (NLGI No.2) and Molybdenum–disulfide lithium base chassis grease (NLGI No.2).

Is that what it says in the manual? The link above says that only 1 type was needed for all.

That came out of my 2001 owner's manual.

You can use the Multi-Purpose Moly grease on everything, but don't use lithium grease on bearings or in u-joints!

I use Mobil SCH 460 synthetic grease on everything.

Sure, that works fine too.

What would happen if lithium grease was used on the u-joints?

Lithium isn't designed for higher pressure applications like bearings.
It tends to heat up and break down much faster than moly grease.
