I saw this on Adv. 4x4, apparently this seller is selling carbon credits to offset the fires in socal. Read all his BS and you can see how distasteful and unsympathetic it is to those who were affected by the fires.

Report him and email him a piece of your mind.

PM this guy through ebay and let him know what a peice of scum he/she is for making this Mockery of us Socal people that were affected by all the wildfires. Make sure you read all his BS. This guy is a creep for trying to cash in on something so terrible that all us Socal'ers have to suffer through. I want all forum members to give this person a peice of there mind. PLEASE!!!

I totally agree. What gets me is the what he says in his ad, especially at the bottom of it.

Here's a quote from his ad, you can see why so many are angry over this one. I don't think he is really a scammer, I think he is useing ebay to get his political views across.

For each carbon credit purchased, I will use the money to reduce carbon emissions by purchasing CFL, reducing the number of miles I drive each day, turning off my lights at night and a bunch of other things. I will also promise to not build my home in a fire prone area, thus preventing the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.


Do your part, Southern California is historically a hot-spot for wild-fires. Don't make the rest of the world's population suffer from your decision of where to build your home. Don't screw up the planet for the children.

my home didnt burn, but i do know of a few people whos homes did burn, homes that had been there a LONG time with out fire.

i hope the feds go after him as a scammer.

This needs to be addressed by your staff. This listing is totally uncalled for and serves no purpose other than to anger and create hate for those who have lost their homes in the recent Socal fires.

This seller is using your web resources for personal environmental political gain. Not to sell goods.

This is a moral issue here and I hope you take the proper action.

Did anyone see what part of the country the seller lived in? Reason I ask is because every part of our country has some sort of natural disaster which does probably impact the environment in one way or another. Just curious

I didn't see where they were from, but I wrote him a pm and said something similar about natural disasters happening everywhere plus not to mention that some of those fires were arson related. :screwy: :chair:

You know I kinda consider myself a tree hugger. The guys at work get butt hurt when I tell them to recycle stuff that we have bins for right next to the trash cans and all that crap.... yada yada yada. But dickheads like this make all of us seem unreasonable. It kills forward momentum like deep sand with 45psi tires. Just doesn't help at all.

Bruce, I think you are right. I received this email from him and from looking at his account (sells military surplus) I tend to believe him.


I'm sending out a blanket email regarding the ebay auction for the "carbon credits" that was posted via my account last week. I did not realize that the auction had been posted till I returned from my trip to Belize this weekend. I believe that my account was hijacked when I used a university computer to check out my stuff on ebay. I'm figuring that I did not fully log out and left my ebay account logged in. Lucky for me, they were not able to get into any of my "personal" information (as far as I can tell).

Again, I apologize for not being careful with my account and by doing so, allowing someone to use my account to post this type of auction.
