I have a 2002 Sport Edition. Came with 16" wheels stock. On the door jamb, it says it came with 15" wheels (225/75/15). Very confusing. I am pretty sure that my brakes are for 16" wheels, so I was going to just buy some rotors that size, but just wanted to double check on here.
I haven't measured the rotor size yet, but from the looks of it, there is very little clearance between the 16" rims and the rotors, so there would be no way that 15" rims would fit. Anyone know what the part/model number stamped on a 16" wheel caliper is?
(And I know everyone's crazy about the Tundra brake upgrade, but I will give this another shot with better pads (Hawk LTS). Even if the rotors warp, I can take them back to Autozone for a free replacement :D).
EDIT: Ok, looks like the stamp on the calipers should read: S13WM

I dont think the 02's or 01's came with the 15" brakes but I could be wrong. PM me your VIN and I can probably check tomorrow afternoon.

I just went out to the garage and saw that S13WM is what my old calipers have on them and I had the 13" brake rotors also. It has long been known that the door stickers have had discrepancies as to what size wheels actually came on the vehicle stock and I don't think the mystery ever really got solved. I don't think the smaller 12" brakes came on any vehicles except the most stripped down 4runners of each model year which was usually a 4cyl without ABS (someone correct me if I am wrong on this). I know they stopped making the 4cyl in 2000 and apparently there were some 01-02 that had the smaller brakes, but they must be very rare indeed. Easiest thing to do is just verify the casting number on the caliper itself.

What is the casting ID on your calipers?

Just sent ya a response with everything TIS shows me. It looks like it had 15's from the factory but the dealer added 16's. Cant say for sure though.
I would just get the 16" rotors if you have 16's. Thats what I just did.

Thanks, all. I verified that my calipers had S13WM stamped on them. And I bought the rotors for 16" wheels and compared it to the old ones and they were the same size. So the dealership must have changed out the brake system along with the wheels.

The door sticker don't mean a thing, they all say 15", that's what the base model comes with. The factory option is the HD brakes set-up, the sticker remains the same. My 4Runner also says 15", but on the list of factory options I got the brake upgrade, it's not a dealer installed option.
