So the husband is going after work today to check out this truck:

**deleted the linky, cause the truck is sold**

2002 Tacoma PreRunner ext cab.

Are there any things specific to this truck that he should be looking for? He has a pretty discerning eye when it comes to checking out vehicles in general, but I'm wondering if like y'all know if this year offers something that other years don't or "this" is a great option to have if you go to another model year.

Here's to him finding a truck he likes so he can ditch the dodge!

i guess check for an elocker. i believe they only came on "TRD" prerunners as an option, so something worth looking for.

an elocker would be a nice option if that's what you're looking for. Otherwise the basic fluid check and look for rust. though i'm sure you guys get rust period but never hurts to check for excessive wear and tear.

if you like the truck take it to a reputable mechanic to do an once over to make sure it's ok mechanically. drive, drive, drive. listen to every little sound (meaning turn the radio off). also drive by a large building so you can hear the sound bounce off the walls for engine chatter and other sounds you can't hear by just standing by the truck.

looks like ave mileage so other than the basic stuff you should be fine.

good luck!

well we are officially a Toyota family now!

Thanks for your input guys; it does have the e-locker (BTW is it wrong to be jealous of a 2wd Tacoma just because of its locker status?)

for those of you that like that sort of thing :D, here's a quick pic I took while he was debadging it yesterday:

My only issue with it so far is that you cannot read the time while you are driving. The clock location is fairly useless.

Funny you should mention the clock. I remember when I was researching Tacomas a few years back, I read a review saying " If the worst thing you can say about a vehicle is that the clock location is poor, it would seem you're in pretty good shape".
