Do you have a daily driver that's NOT the Toyota that you wheel in?

If so, let's see 'em!

Mine?

1995 Acura Legend GS, Black on Tan, 203k and going strong!

~24 MPG on my 120-mile-a-day commute, 5 days a week!

thats the exact car my dad used to have... he got the very first one in the northeast ;D

he loved its power, but gave it up because he got a bad deal on the lease.

that looks like a drug runner! LOL

Is it 6sp manual?

NO! i had a 94 blk/blk 6-speed version of this very same car and SOLD it like an idgit. however, i did make about $2500 after driving it for 6-months and putting 10k miles on it.

i wish this one was a 6-speed. it's in MUCH better shape both cosmetically and mechanically than the 94 was. if the trans goes out on this one, then i'll just swap in a 6MT as a replacement. a used auto is typically $800-$1000 to swap in and i can do a 6MT for about $2200-$2500 with paying a local independent to do the labor for me.

2000 Honda Accord EX V6

Sorry no photos but we all know what an Accord looks like right? :) The daily 80 miles round trip commute really does make a big difference driving a more fuel efficient vehicle! Talk about smaller dent on the back pocket.

120 / day would really make me reconsider my current career. with 80 miles it takes me roughly 1:15-1:30 in the morning and just about 1 hr on the way back. on top of working 9-10 hrs daily the drive really takes a toll on my body. good thing i've got the radio and a laptop with a verizon wireless card to keep me company! (doh)

ahhh, i leave the house at 6am, at work at 7. i leave at 4 to 4:30 and i'm home an hour later. all but about 12 miles each way is wide open 6+ lane interstate w/ light to moderate traffic.

I've got a 30 mile/day commute. Hoping that within 6-12 months it'll be about 1 mile/day.

Though I have considered buying a cheap car that gets good gas mileage, or just getting a dual purpose bike.

I wouldn't be considering it, but until I get a good place to store the camper that is covered, I can't be taking it on and off all the time. I have a storage unit right now that was intended for the camper. However, my truck is now too tall to fit it and the camper in. So, I'm a bit SOL until I find another storage unit, or I find a place to buy with a good garage.

Lance, you gotta come out to AZ. An hour and a half one way?!?!? You can get to just about anywhere that matters in Phoenix in an hour. My commute right now is 35-40 minutes at 30 miles. When I move into my house it'll be down to 14 miles and I might even start biking it. At least that's the plan.

My daily driver:

It only gets 27 mpg though, you'd think for such a small car it'd get better. I could probably get a little better but it's hard not to floor it and shift through the gears. It's a blast to drive, I only wish it had a turbo.

Even though my commute is about 12 minutes on a bad day by car, it's downhill in the morning and uphill in the evening to biking that is pretty much out of the question for me. So I use plan B, my 2002 Honda Civic.....I can post photos, but I think most people have seen at least one or two out on the road lately. :D

96 Honda Accord, thankfully my commute is only 34 mi roundtrip and about 20mins each way.

Anytime I consider moving the potential for a long commute always seems to float to the top of the list of worries. I don't think I could handle commute times like Good Times without cracking up.

i sold the acura a while back and bought my current 4runner.

if you want something cheap with decent MPG's, then get a civic, 90's accord 5sp, or even a sentra or corolla. you're looking at mid 30's or more on any of them.

I walk to work. It's about a 15 minute walk. :hillbill:

Andy, I don't know how you do it. I used to drive about 40 miles round trip to work, and that was bad enough.

My commute is 6 miles round trip. During the warm weather months I use my K75S, only have the fill up once every 2-3 weeks. For the rest of the year when the weather is bad, I use my 98 Camry.

Here's my DD:

20+ mpg loaded down with tools/supplies and the front and rear A/C on.

Although I do wheel it and all my other vehicles. (Even the 89f250 gets to see a little bit of dirt just to keep all the 4wd parts lubed up)

well, my commute has shortened by quite a bit since i moved and changed jobs. now it's dead on 25 miles each way, which is about 30-35min of drive time. before it was 60.5 miles each way, and took right at an hour in the mornings and 1:15-1:30 in the afternoons.

needless to say, i don't miss the old job much. :D

My daily driver come fall will be this:
(pictures is of a dealer car not actual car but very similar)

1999 VW GTI Auto with the 2.0 engine, I don't know if it has the turbo or not yet.
Black on Black Leather (that will take some getting use to since I have a slight phobia of black interiors....)

Starting Sept 15 I will have a daily commute of 50+Miles
I leave at 5am to start class at 630am and get out at 130pm to go to work from 3p-10p
This schooling will be more fun then my current though :-P

I will have to learn to lay off the skinny pedal once I get my self back in a car.
I do plan On getting a new set of rims, and better tire, muffler upgrade and some after market lights to make it stand out a little, oh and tinted windows.
No I will not do ground fx or anything like that.

The car will have almost 300K when I get it so I will have to do some tune up stuff, new wires, plugs, clean out everything, seafoam, change all fluids, my uncle takes really good care of his stuff so I am sure the car is in great condition, already comes with the same aftermarket stereo I have now.
And If I have any issues I can always take it to the VW/Audi side of school :-)
