Hi guys. I'm trying to install a scytek alarm into my 96 4runner and have it all working but the door trigger wire and the dome light activation. I read that the door trigger wire is black/white in the diver side kick panel but can't find the right one. can anyone give me some pointers? I also assume that i can hook the dome light up to that wire too.

Thanks in advanced,
Nate

go to www.the12volt.com, use the car wiring database thing and it will tell you the wire color. the wire colors sometimes change from year to year. test with a multimeter.

the door trigger wire will set off the dome light, so once you tap the right one, youre good to go.

Thanks for responding.

I did do just that. It said "Door Trigger Black/White (-) Back of Fuse Panel at White 3 Pin Connector"
I found a black/white wire on the top of the back side of the fuse panel but it didn't seem to work. If someone could confirm that this is the right one I'll try it again. Or if it not the right one please point me in the right direction where to find it. It hard to see back there.

Thanks,
Nate

In the picture "location for tie-ins", it shows the green, door trigger input wire going behind the fuse panel. Do you remember where exactly it goes?

Door Trigger * Black/White (-) * Back of Fuse Panel at White 3 Pin Connector

Test it with a multimeter if you have any doubts.

be careful probing around the wiring with a meter. It would be safer to use a airbag safe test light.

You complete the circuit on the wrong wires and you will have two messes to clean up. if you know what i mean.

For a negative input door trigger wire, don't you plug that into the negative output for the domelight? I have it down for a 96 4Runner as:

Dome Light Black/White (-) Located in a 26 Pin Connector in Driver Kick Panel

All the airbag wires have bright yellow connectors, you can't miss them.

The black/white wire on the back of the fuse panel was the right one. When i tapped it the first time the wire was too smale to get cut by the tap. I re-tapped it and all works fine now.

Now on to the window module...anyone know which wires to tap? If I figure it out first, I'll post here.

This is what I got on the windows:

Function: Color/Polarity
Window UP D\ L Green P\ Red/Black D\ Red/Blue P\ Yellow
Window Down F/ Blue/Yellow F/ Red/Green R/ Red/Yellow R/ Green

Circuit type is Reversal Rest at Ground

These should be the correct wire colors and you should be able to tap into them via the driver's side kick panel.
The windows are all reverse polarity (ie switched ground, not positive) so keep that in mind.

I took a brake in the wiring to catch up on homework but finished it last night. All the wire you guys said were right on. Thanks for your help!
