You can really see Lance and Bruce's influences here. I have been searching for a bumper with similar lines to theirs without success so I decided to try and build one myself. SO far, I couldn't be happier. It goes to PC hopefully this week. I have to finish the tire carrier but other than that, it's almost done.

as far as the gap, i'm torn between using plate steel continued up the sides or using the remainder of my stock bumper cover. So far I think I can get away with the stock cover.

stock cover would proabablly look good and keep it somewhat clean looking.

I dont think youll have to worry about damaging anything there imo

Looks like some good fab work. Any reason why you decided to put the recovery points
so far "outboard". Usually the best location is directly off the frame horns.

yes, their just to the outside of the corners of the frame ....there are two notches directly under where you're speaking for hi-lift jacking points. I didn't want to interfere with those. It's all gusseted behind for the recovery points and they also act as another reinforcement for the large verticle weld for the side pieces.

Well it's pretty much done. you can see on the driver rear that it still needs a little trimming to make the gap more even, it's a little close at the corner. Other than needing a bath and my license plate light/holder that should be here soon ...it's done. ...whew!! I may have 4x4 labs make a gas can holder while I'm gone and send it to me. The perch shoud provide a good base to mount one on.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. ...there are a few flaws being i was a little rushed on this,(hopefully only I'll notice) but that said, I'm happy with it. As you guys know, it's hard to get stuff like this for a 4th gen.

NICE WORK!

how thick is the plate? did you add a rear crossmember for the frame?

if not, add at least one, 2 for extra rigidity.

i appreciate the nice remarks. :)

I didn't cut the rear crossmember. I notched into it to add the reciever but then reinforced it all behind the crossmember after. The bumper is 3/16" thick and adds to the stiffness of the existing crossmember. My main goal was to try not to have to cut the crossmember off and also get the hitch receiver up for a better departure angle.

nice.

no, you shouldnt cut the crossmember that was there, i meant did you ADD an additional one?? if not, you should. even a piece of 1x1 is fine. just something to help the frame handle hits the bumper will take because the frame will bend before the bumper will, thats for sure :)
