Randomly decided yesterday that i was going to go for a small solo excursion today. The Wife needed some time to take care of some things without having to take care of the little one so off We went. My friend Dave (Uncle Dave to Chloe) came along also.

Jawbone to Isabella is a 55 mile trip that starts out at 2500 feet in the desert and climbs to 8200 feet in the Sequoia National Forest. An easy trail overall. I figured there would be a little snow in the higher elevations, boy was i wrong. About 30 miles of the trail was snow covered. Sometimes it was just a hard packed icy covering, sometimes it was a foot deep. It was a bit challenging at times. Good trip though. Took right about 4 hours to complete the trail. Of course i took a crap ton of pics, so here they are.

Desert side.

pretty cool pics.
looks like it was fun.

there's a trail around me, indian cyn, that can get some snow on the top (or shoot, even rowher flats can), but not like that.
that seems like a good place to go shootin too.
with a camera i mean.

Yeah, it was a good choice for a Sunday cruise. Dont want to shoot with anything besides a camera, just having a gun in National Forest is a big no no. Good thing no one searched my truck huh? Gotta watch out for private property on the desert side also. You go across quite a few ranches further in on the desert side. Plenty of BLM land to shoot on though.

Very nice! Makes me really want to get out there. :flipoff: I'm hoping once this baby arrives, I'll be able to do some trips with just me and Jack (the mom's don't really care what you plan on doing when you volunteer to give them a toddler free day or weekend).

The pic of you throwing your daughter in the air is my favorite.

Edit: On the subject of guns in the NF, I thought you could hunt in the National Forest? :headscratch:

Yeah, you should definitely come out this way Chris. Some good trails for sure. And yes, the Moms are always down for a day thats free of the little ones. Haha. The flying pic is one of my favorites also.

Your right, hunting is ok in National Forests. I was for some reason thinking of State/National Parks. Gun laws in National Forests are mainly governed by state laws, where as in State/National Parks, no guns are allowed period.

Yes, Cali. has its perks. The axe pic is a good one huh? Haha.
